Title: Installing a new theme on a board that has mods already on it?
Post by: Carbon6 on May 02, 2012, 08:58:59 PM
Hi,
I'm running a 2.02 board with a dozen or so mods on it, portal, chatbox, a few small cosmetic mods etc..
My question is, Is it possible to install a new theme (reasonably) comfortably?

I ask, as I believe some of the mods may have changed code in other installed templates, and I don't know if there is an automated function that will make the necessary changed to a new template, or it needs doing by hand?

Ha, ok, a few more than I recalled...

Its not that I mind so much doing it by hand, I was wondering on how much time to set aside.
I moved to SMF from phpBB, as that was such a pain if i wanted a new style in when it had mods on it.
The awesome instant modding of SMF was a huge attraction, I just don't know how far its capabilities reach, will I need to get the spanners out? :)

I would uninstall ALL your mods install the theme then reinstall the mods.

Ya may want to check mods 10 and 14 btw.

If you take Old Fossil's advice make sure to do a FULL Backup of everything first.

Ok, I'll give it a go, wish me luck :)
Odd that the package manager didn't report the updates for PortaMX and remove child boards.
Thanks for the tips.

On a side note, that is the most horrendous capcha in the world ever. 3 posts, at least 9 12 goes at it :o
