Just restore your forum to the backup you made before you made any changes. You did make a backup right?
I didn't do any recent backup 'cos there aren't much changes / mod installation the last backup i did is completely useless 'cos then there aren't much post/members. Is there nothing i can change in the index template to make it work again? I just uninstalled "global header and footer mod" please help me forum.obasimvilla.com

was not lucky at all please it's there any way i can get back just the post & members planning to re-install
Whatever your problem is, it's with the software, not the database.
Your posts, members, etc. are stored in the database. So, don't worry about those.
OK. Lesson learnt. ALWAYS backup, before adding mod and stuff, in future, won't you? ;)
If that last thing I suggested didn't work, you can always get the large upgrade http://download.simplemachines.org/index.php?thanks;filename=smf_2-0-2_upgrade.zip and dearchive it, on your computer.
Upload all of the files, EXCEPT Upgrade.php, to your site, overwriting what's there, now.
You should have a forum that's in it's virgin state, then.
Your mods will still be in "Packages", too. They'll just need to be reapplied. :)
Will i need to replace the entire directory or just the content of each?
All the directories and files on your forum.
Overwrite them. :)
Remember NOT to upload Upgrade.php, though.
I'm very grateful sir
but my simile doesn't display anymore I attached a screen capture of it to show the display. thanks once again great lesson learnt use to think I'm smart not till I discovered I'm probably the most stupid among my age class
I can't see the screen capture, mate. :(
Even better, though, can you give us a URL where we can see the smiley (Or not) ;)
I'm off to bed, now. If you don't get any help by the morning, I'll take another look.
Don't feel so bad about not backing-up. Most of us need a lesson, like that, before we learn to do it. :)
ok thanks just edited it now to show the capture
I'm guessing your images are missing for those smilies. Check your smilies in the admin and make sure they all exist. Try changing them to a different set to see if that works. Then last, check to see if the smilies are located on your server where they say they are in the admin panel.
they are located in the server but aren't displayind in the admin
How did you upload the files? Did you, by any chance, use Filezilla?

Then your paths are wrong. Check the path in the admin vs the path they are located on your server.

Yeah now works I corrected the paths from the admin.
my only problem is that the mod aren't working the way they should after restoring the forum. eg my contact form isn't displaying properly as shown in the picture below
That looks like you are missing the language strings. Take a look at the contact form mod on the mod site that you are using, click the parse button for the latest version you have and see where it installs the language strings. They are usually added to the Modifications.english.php file. Check your file in your forum Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php to see if you have those strings in it, if not just add them.
