Title: Pitfalls or issues to look for when upgrading from 1.1.16 to 2.0.2?
Post by: MRM4 on November 06, 2012, 11:21:27 AM
I have been seriously considering upgrading to 2.0.X from 1.1.16. Seems like that's where things are going. Having said that, what kinds of issues or pitfalls should I be on the lookout for if I do upgrade? Also, if the upgrade doesn't work or I don't care for it, can I go fully back to 1.1.16 if I back it up first, then restore it from there later?

If you backup both the forum, itself, AND the database, you can go back dead easily. :)

Pitfalls...

Your mods will be toast. There may well be updated versions for v2.0.2, though.

Your themes will be toast. End of story.

It may even be an idea to uninstall them all and delete them from your "Packages" and "themes" directories, when you've uninstalled them.

Other than that, you should be OK.

Just don't ask me to upgrade my forum, coz it ain't gonna happen. ;)
