Has anyone tried this? I don't see any comments even though over 600 people have downloaded this.

What's it like, specifically. Does it give me a chat, or does it integrate an offline chat into my site?

Nice mod!

Hi, does this put a chat feature into your forum? (Stand-Alone)

Or does it integrate an offline chat into your forum?

The chat wasn`t made 100% by me! It is SMF integrated in SimpleChat.

Does this mod work with RC1.1?

I get the following errors...
QuotePlease don't access SSI.php by URL directly; you may want to use the path ('SSI.php') or add ?ssi_function=something.

QuoteFatal error: Call to undefined function: ssi_boardstats() in /Library/WebServer/Documents/smf/chat/insert.php on line 12

As there's no working demo link and not really any positive feedback, I take it this mod wouldn't be a very good choice for me?

ah ok, looks quite good

I have now integrated my own personaly made chat into my SMF forum now so I won't be using this mod, but probably would otherwise.

Has anyone else gotten this to work in 1.1RC2?

It seems to be installed okay, but when I go to the /chat directory in my browser nothing loads - just an empty page.

I've edited the settings.php so that the board dir path is /Library/WebServer/Documents/smf/chat/ (we're running Mac OS X Server).

Nothing seems to load, but there's no 404 error page either (and no source code is visible).

The board is at http://forums.amugonline.org/ (chat should be at http://forums.amugonline.org/chat/, right?).

Try to uninstall the mode and then copy the chat directory into your SMF directory, edit the settings file then delete what you have into your data folder. Make shure to chmod your data folder to 777. Now go to the chat page and it should work.

Tried the above selection.  Got it mostly to work, except on the main page I get this error:

Please don't access SSI.php by URL directly; you may want to use the path ('SSI.php') or add ?ssi_function=something.

then after selecting a user name to my chat I get this error and nothing else:

Please don't access SSI.php by URL directly; you may want to use the path ('SSI.php') or add ?ssi_function=something.

Any suggestions? ??? (keep in mind I am fairly new to php, so the actual message is a bit vague to me)

Thanks

I can see that you are getting the "Please don't access SSI.php by URL"...  Remember that $boarddir is asking for a path, not a URL.  So, it cannot begin with "http".  Your $boarddir variable in settings.php should be something like:
"/var/www/html/board"

not:

"http://www.weathernut.net/board"

Well in this case the $boarddir is /public_html/board. /var/www/html/board was an example for your path.

Title: Re: SMF Chat

Well, I've having almost the same problem of the first posts... I installed the chat using the recommendations, and it worked, but where the chat is supposed to be, it shows and error message: "Fatal error: Call to undefined function: template_menu() in /home/utakinet/public_html/foros/SSI.php on line 206". How do I correct this? (obvioulsy,  can't use the chat...) The address is this: http://www.utaki.net/foros/chat/
Title: Re: SMF Chat
Post by: J. S. on January 26, 2006, 07:06:36 PM
Well.. where are your menu buttons from your forum? I can`t see them on your SMF board.. What is not working on your chat installation is the <?php ssi_menubar(); ?>

Go to http://utaki.net/foros/ssi_examples.php and you`ll see:

Menubar Function: <?php ssi_menubar(); ?>

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: template_menu() in /home/utakinet/public_html/foros/SSI.php on line 206

So.. try to fix that and your chat will work just fine. What i suggest is to replace your SSI.php with a "clean" version.
Title: Re: SMF Chat
Post by: AntaresMHD on January 27, 2006, 01:58:29 PM
Well, thank you for help me to identify the error, but I'm kind of... newbie at this. ¿How do I correct that? I mean, in my ssi.php I just can see the line that's causing the bug (206), and it shows this:

(...)
// Display a menu bar, like is displayed at the top of the forum.
function ssi_menubar($output_method = 'echo')
{
   global $context;

   if ($output_method == 'echo')
      template_menu();
   // What else could this do?
   else
      return $context;
}

// Show a logout link.
(...)

The highlighted function is the one that's causing the bug, but I don't understand how that's supossed to be used... Am sorry to keep bothering you, but there's something I can do about it? Can I just erase the function i the main.php file of the chat and/or the template_menu in the ssi.php of the forum? Thanks for your help, anyway...

Modification: I try what I wrote before this, I delete the <?php ssi_menubar(); ?> function of the main.php, and it worked!! Thans a lot!! this mod is awesome!!

I'm using the chat for about 3 days and is working perfectly (I guess)... But I wonder: how do I configure the size of the chat log? I want to keep a loooong track of the conversations, but it only keeps 150 lines. Where do I configure it? Thanks.

Nice mod. I've been using this chat script for more 2 years ( I remember). But originally with iframe. So, its nice idea converting into table also connected with SSI :)

Now you can see my chat screenshot here..
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg19.imageshack.us%2Fimg19%2F9567%2Fchat2gl.th.gif&hash=210f66d52a78cc12c54f9309b9c7fa530ac3ef05) (http://img19.imageshack.us/my.php?image=chat2gl.gif)
I made some modification code for displaying currently online user (SSI).
So, the chatter can click the person (nickname), and send a SMF PM. Invite to chat room. :)

Can someone help?

I installed this mod and I modified the "Settings.php" to have boarddir to - /public_html and changed the rest too but when i got to /chat all I get is a 'Internal server error' and 404 page not found error.

Its as though /public_html is wrong but it is correct as my board is hosted there and the chat is installed in /public_html/chat.

Any help...?

OK I got past the error screen and now its a blank page on /chat.

I'm 100% sure its a permissions problem... can someone tell me what permissions are to be set for the files/fodlers ??

nice MOD and very EASY to use. it's working great!
however, i need some help tweaking the links that point to my forum like, home, calendar, etc.

i have installed another mod and everything needs to have this little link before the actual link:
main index: http://www.mypowerforum.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=87

http://www.mypowerforum.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=87&action=profile

http://www.mypowerforum.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=87&action=mlist

as you can see here, the /index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=87&action= comes before any link, how do i add that peice of code so everything points to the right direction? the actual links work fine but i put a redirect link to deny direct access to the forum.

any ideas? thank you so much and this CHAT is a lot EASY to use.

GREAT JOB!!!!!

If you mean setting the data folder to 777, deleting the files inside and adjusting "settings.php", I've done them.

It works offline on my localhost, but on my server online it throws a blank page. My host does not allow 777, i think it allows only 755 but I really don't see that should be a problem...
Title: Re: SMF Chat
Post by: J. S. on February 27, 2006, 04:13:36 PM
Well... the chat need to write to the data folder, if it has this permision then there should be no other problem. As I suggested before, remove the chat with your package manager and upload it manualy to [yourboard]\chat, delete the data folder and create a new empty one, set the writing permision on it, edit you settings.php file and go to [yourboard]\chat and it should work just fine.

2- how do i edit the links' images inside the chat i mean (home, members, calender) or do they depend on the theme uses??
