You don't have to worry about the database version as there are no database changes in 2.0.4 from 2.0.3.

That happens when you use the large upgrade package. You can either re-install all of your mods, or I think there is a table called log_packages in your database.

In that table, there is an attribute something similar to install_state. It probably has a 0. Change that to 1.

won't it affect the old one on database.....?

actually, changing the database table won't work, beause - by using the large upgrade package you actually erased all of the file edits done by the mods.  You MUST re-install the mods, if you want them - most mods will not erase the data from a previous installation (UserCP is the only one that I know which does so).

I thought it would at least show them in the package manager though? That was the point I was trying to make.

well, yes...   they should be showed in the package manager if there is a file in the packages directory, IIRC... (none of my upgrades have ever erased mods form my list)   if, for some reason, he managed to wipe out the directory then even modifying the table won't have any effect

You did backup right?

well, not quite - you should always upgrade when a security patch is released. However, you should also always take a backup before doing anything to your site - and if you have questions, ask them before messing with the site. :)

Your mod settings should remain. I know of only one mod that erases previous settings after reinstalling.

things like this don't just "happen". They are caused...    So - what did you do prior to things coming back? And what did you do after that, just before things disappeared again?

At this point, I can only assume that your board is in a really bad state.
1- overwrite all forum files with clean copies of SMF 2.0.4 files - this includes your custom theme(s)... copy FRESH versions of those files as well.
2- truncate the smf_installed_packages table
3- make sure that file and directory permissions and ownerships are correct on your server.

4- confirm that everything is working, with a base installation, on the default theme.
5- confirm that everything is working, with a base installation, on the custom theme(s).
6- start installing mods. Retest after each one then backup befpore installing the next one.

can it be possible that my host denied me access to the package manager..........

a blank white page usually indicates some sort of major PHP error, not a denied access.

no. your problem is not fixable by repair_settings.

Follow the 6 steps that I posted

Quote2- truncate the smf_installed_packages table
do you mean remove the smf_installed_packages table
Title: Re: help upgrade problem
Post by: Kindred on February 07, 2013, 12:24:50 PM
no, I mean TRUNCATE (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/truncate-table.html)

this will remove the records of the mods which are installed (or not installed) and will enamble you to get a clean installation of mods going forward. (it will not affect mod DATA which may be stored in the table - that information will still be preserved for when you eventually reinstall the mod)
