I Installed the 2.0.4 patch through the package manager. And an getting error about the database being version 2.0.3 and the file 2.04.
I now download a large upgrade.... direct to my server and unzip it..... but can not upgrade,..... after a long period of time i will get an error saying No suitable nodes are available to serve your request. this is what i used http://allforums.tk/forum/upgrade.php........ what do i do....? do i return back my backups... ....sorry for my English....
You don't have to worry about the database version as there are no database changes in 2.0.4 from 2.0.3.
Well.. everything has been done now..... i was the one that cause it.... i was using http://allforums.tk/forum/upgrade.php instead of http://allforums.tk/upgrade.php........,,,
but my problem is..i lost all my mods what do i do now .......... although every thing is working fine...
That happens when you use the large upgrade package. You can either re-install all of your mods, or I think there is a table called log_packages in your database.
In that table, there is an attribute something similar to install_state. It probably has a 0. Change that to 1.

This is your next option.
won't it affect the old one on database.....?
actually, changing the database table won't work, beause - by using the large upgrade package you actually erased all of the file edits done by the mods. You MUST re-install the mods, if you want them - most mods will not erase the data from a previous installation (UserCP is the only one that I know which does so).

I thought it would at least show them in the package manager though? That was the point I was trying to make.
well, yes... they should be showed in the package manager if there is a file in the packages directory, IIRC... (none of my upgrades have ever erased mods form my list) if, for some reason, he managed to wipe out the directory then even modifying the table won't have any effect
Ah. My apologies then to TRUSTDEE for that error.
Thanks for the tip Kindred.
So i have to install mods again.....how about the settings of the mods.....i should not have upgrade...... Because my forum was working fine......[SAD]
You did backup right?
well, not quite - you should always upgrade when a security patch is released. However, you should also always take a backup before doing anything to your site - and if you have questions, ask them before messing with the site. :)
Your mod settings should remain. I know of only one mod that erases previous settings after reinstalling.
Every thing came back to normal yesterday.... but this morning the package link stop working... that is i can't access my package list again.....i only get empty page..........What do i do?
Have you reinstalled your mods yet ?
yes that is what am saying....every this is working fine both the settings came back.....

Sorry I don't understand what you mean ? What came back ?
Sorry.....may be reading from top will help........the settings of my previous mod.....
TRUSTDEE,
Please explain, clearly and FULLY, what is the most recent happening.
a single line answer is useless and unhelpful
Ok... i said i can't access my packages..... i get empty links whenever i try to access it.... I mean my mods i can't see it.....

things like this don't just "happen". They are caused... So - what did you do prior to things coming back? And what did you do after that, just before things disappeared again?
At this point, I can only assume that your board is in a really bad state.
1- overwrite all forum files with clean copies of SMF 2.0.4 files - this includes your custom theme(s)... copy FRESH versions of those files as well.
2- truncate the smf_installed_packages table
3- make sure that file and directory permissions and ownerships are correct on your server.
4- confirm that everything is working, with a base installation, on the default theme.
5- confirm that everything is working, with a base installation, on the custom theme(s).
6- start installing mods. Retest after each one then backup befpore installing the next one.
can it be possible that my host denied me access to the package manager..........
a blank white page usually indicates some sort of major PHP error, not a denied access.
Ok do you think repair_setting.php can solve my problem.... because i just upgraded yesterday... i don't won't to go back to it again....
no. your problem is not fixable by repair_settings.
Follow the 6 steps that I posted
Quote2- truncate the smf_installed_packages table
do you mean remove the smf_installed_packages table
no, I mean TRUNCATE (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/truncate-table.html)
this will remove the records of the mods which are installed (or not installed) and will enamble you to get a clean installation of mods going forward. (it will not affect mod DATA which may be stored in the table - that information will still be preserved for when you eventually reinstall the mod)
I have done what you said....... but i have i more problem.... that is an error Maintenance Mode
Okay faithful users...we're attempting to restore an older backup of the database...news will be posted once we're back!
http://allforums.tk/ (http://allforums.tk/) i can't login again....what do i do ?
go to settings.php and change the maintenance mode to "0" instead of "2"
Ok everything done.......thank you.......too many problems there and here........at last it is done.......
