Been working fine. have 20 registered users.
now all of a sudden they cant lo gin. even myself. I have a two admin accounts and I I cant lo gin. I am still loged in as another account and in that one if I can go to a members and when I select a member it takes me straight back to the forum.
If I try and lo gin using a different account it says user name does not exist
I have tried forgoten password but no email arrives (cant remember setting the email settings up)
I have logged onto the sql server and all seems ok there the user names etc are all there . the passwords are encrypted so cant check them.
I did note that the two accounts I run both use the same password however the encryption numbers were different.
Anysugestions where to look
Have you installed any mods before this happened?
Have you checked your hosting control panel for errors?
can't log in is a very generic report...
is there any error message?
What is the exact behavior?
Did you install any mods recently, as BK asked...
or did you change any settings?
Are you using the same url? (tere is actually a difference between yoursite.com and www.yoursite.com, depending on the cookie settings.
Nothing has been changed in the last week.
the last thing done was a new posting was added to the system.
now when you try to log in you are taked directly to the failed loggin paged at the top it says you need to fill in a user name
and you then put your user name in and password and the same happens again
I have also tried the forgotten password option and tried the email address and the user name . no emails arrive
I can still login get in on my laptop or I can see all posts but I cant reply to any or add new ones.
As there are other administrators they could have acidently changed something like rights can I check this in the main sql database
Cant access anything in Admin
cant look at my own memer settings or under profil no access to account settings
Its as though I am read only on the hole site.
when I select members I have a green dot against my name so I am still lpgged in bu no access

did this start happening?
Have you deleted the cookies from your browser?
QuoteAs there are other administrators they could have acidently changed something like rights can I check this in the main sql database
Not really unless you have a backup copy of the db to compare.
Sorry but having lots of administrators is a VERY VERY bad idea... :P
When I changed the forum Directory name and then ran the check tool everything worked great . the problem started about 4 days latter aprox
I have two administrators and three moderators the balance are a new Category called Pilots
Others seem to be having similar problems
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=389229.60
That post is over 3 years old...
Maybe but I still cant get my issue resolved.
I pointed to the post just in case it was of help
Happy to PM the username and access code if that helps sort the issue out. but currently
I cant access members details
I cant post new Topics
I cant do anything in admin
I cant reply to old posts
I cant modify old posts
I cant logon on a diferant machine
I have cleared the cache directory
This is now getting urgent as I have been down now for 3 days
Want to PM me access to an admin account? (After reading this, if you're OK with it)

Obviously, I'll need your forum URL, too.
OK, we have muchos weirdness going-on.
I tried to access your site. But, when I try to log in, I get "You need to fill in a username".
So... Heck.
You have two databases. jetflight_556889 and jfsp_556889 are you connecting to the right one?
I've looked at the files, using bravenet's file manager (God that's awful) and there doesn't seem to be a way to change the file permissions. Come to that, you can't even see what those are, which seems a bit stupid.
So, some files that need to be write-enabled, could be write-protected. I have no way of knowing.
You might want to check, with Bravenet, as to whether you even have full CHOWN ownership of the files on your site. The way things are looking, I have to say that I doubt, very much, if you have.
Thanks for all your help.
Bravenet apparently changed some rights to my folder when the upgraded there php version from 5.3 to 5.4, you would have to wonder why, but then that's just the world of computers software and everthing in between
So everything looks like its now working again
Thanks for every ones contribution especially K@
Anytime! :)
