Title: E-mail activations and registration
Post by: Randus on September 24, 2013, 01:53:32 PM
Hi:

I would like to edit the activation and registration email.  I did a search and found out where to find the email.  I even as a result learned about the c Panel on my server account:  neat.

The problem I have now is this.  I agreed to abide by the rules of smf when I installed the software.  The wording inside the email was provided as is. With no offense intended to anyone, it does seem a bit brusque to me; I would like to make the wording less formal and a bit more inviting? Would I be breaking copyright if I changed the timbre of the email?

If this is a silly question I apologize for wasting your time.

I think this should work out for the email that's sent out:

I don't have access to my site at the moment, but I think you can modify the registration text out of the box and it might even affect the email that is sent out...maybe. If not, the above mod should be ok.

All email texts are inside a language file: EmailTemplates.english.php (or any other language you use)
So, you can just edit that text (be sure to save a backup) or you can use the MOD mashby indicates (you need to emulate SMF's version to install, probably --> How can I install a mod that doesn't work in my SMF version? (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/How_can_install_a_mod_that_doesn%27t_work_in_my_SMF_version))
