Title: £ Symbol
Post by: tryzard on February 24, 2014, 04:17:56 AM
Please forgive me if I'm asking this in the wrong place or it seems like a stupid question but I'm a complete technoidiot!

When our members type in a £ symbol it appears as such while writing the post but emerges as a ? symbol when the post is published. How do I fix this?

Thanks.

I'm going to assume that you're English and your forum's set to use British English....

Do you have the British English language files installed?

If your forum's set to use UTF-8, do you have the UTF-8 version installed?

Thanks for the response.

I installed SMF 2.0.7 earlier but as far as I can see the language specified is 'English'. How do I find out the information you mention?

if the language is English, then it is probably NOT UK English..   and it most definitely is not English UTF-8

Ah, just discovered we're not on UTF-8!

OK, I've installed the British English files and the problem still exists. I presume it only works if we convert to UTF-8?
