Each time someone posts a reply to a topic, it gets bumped to the top already.

Also, you posted this in the 2.1 support board. What version of SMF are you using?

There is this mod that should do what you are looking for- http://www.smfsimple.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;download=211

Not sure if it is free or not, but if there is a fee it is only like a couple of dollars
