In my administration center under
UPDATE AVAILABLE:
You're using an outdated version of SMF, which contains some bugs which have since been fixed. It is recommended that you update your forum to the latest version as soon as possible. It only takes a minute!
When i click on update your forum link it goes to this below and i get a 403 error. Every update i have ever done has been done manually.. any ideas why my auto update does not work? Do others use the auto update? successfully? Thanks

Try the update link in package manager.
Thats how I always update. Dowload zip upload package run mode ect ect... guess its the most reliable way
just not sure why the auto update never works. or why i get the 403 error when i click the link
It's your hosting company hostgator a security feature they are blocking the download url being passed in the url
Yep, depending on the server configuration the auto download can work, but a lot of shared hosts prevent it for security reasons. Marking this topic as solved.
