I can't see any mention of this already or find it in the current version, but please let me know if I've looked under the wrong terms.
I'd like to see an option for admins and moderators (at least) to be able to view an edited content history on posts. I can't see any option or mod for that at this time.
As it stands posts can be freely edited after someone has replied to it with it only apparent that it has been edited, not what it has been edited from. This makes it difficult to moderate if someone edits away problematic content before an admin sees it, and it can be used to gaslight other users by changing the apparent narrative after the fact.
Allowing admins & mods to view the post content history should improve user trust relationships by allowing mods to better identify intentional misuse of the edit function. Particularly if it was combined with a function to monitor the number of post edits on a per-user basis, watching for unusually high quantities.

we have no plans to make this a default feature.

Thankyou, that's wonderful! My apologies that I was unable to find it myself.
