Giphy for SMF
By: vbgamer45
For: SMF 2.1.x
Adds a fun way to search for animated gifs in the message editor for user posts powered by Giphy!
Please get your own API key at https://developers.giphy.com to avoid being rated limited!!!
https://www.smfhacks.com
I am using SMF 2.1 RC3 and after installation, the Giphy icon is grayed out and can't be selected. I have applied for the API key, do I have to upgrade to production key or not? Is it the issue with the key or maybe with some settings in my SMF?
Im getting these errors:

Yes I saw the giphy button before and was getting that error in admin after posting a giphy image. But now that I uploaded the new giphy.php file it appears to be working fine with no errors. Thank you!

I would think SMF setting any other mods? The API key doesn't affect button status.
Piphy for SMF is creating a lot of errors..

also I don't follow what/how I'm supposed to do with the API from Giphy..
Make sure you download either file above or reinstall the mod from mod site.
The API Key goes in modifications settings area in the admin area.
The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.
Are you using SMF 2.1 RC3?
all good now... it took me a while to find the place to insert the API
Where's the css file for this? I want the images bigger.
There is no css file. It is built into the .js file for the script itself. I belive in the scripts folder.
@vbgamer
Saw it. Thank you. The CSS code in the js file is for the search box, not the posted image. I added a class in index.css and solved what i was looking for. Now the images are larger and it's responsive.
Edit**** code no good.
Looking good. I think that applies to all images posted though right?

Yes. That's the downfall. It overrides all bbc images that uses width= between the tags. It needs its own class in css.
Can we possibly get some love for 2.0?
It's still the standard SMF version, 2.1 is still too unstable and this is fantastic.
I could I have it on my forum hosting service for 2.0 it works best though in SCEditor in 2.1

i tried on 2.0 and was unsuccessful
Yeah it's not supported for 2.0
Anything happening with 2.0 version?
No right now. It doesn't popup perfectly, so I am just using it internally then posting here.

could you solve this please ?
You need to enter a GIPHY api key in the settings area.
thank you
I would like to see a demo of this mod, or at least some screenshots.
Added a screnshot.
Just installed On Test forum but getting the following error whenever viewing topics
https://www.databasedreams.co.uk/testing/index.php?topic=10.0
/home/*****/public_html/testing/Sources/giphy.php (Line 67)
I have tried Adding A api But after saving it displays a empty box?
mick
Hmm yeah that error would occur if no api key is saved.
But entering the api key doesn't save it?

Nope tried a number of times
Super cool mod. Installed flawlessly with no custom edits in 2.14 with numerous modifications.
Thank you
I'm having the same issue here
The button does nothing when clicked
I put in the api key
I'm on 2.1.3
Anything similar for 2.0.19?
No.
FYI seems like the are going the twitter/x route with the api. rumors starting at 12k will find out...
Quote• What's Changing: GIPHY is expanding our Enterprise business. Our API product and content libraries are no longer free, unfortunately. Waiting to hear details
If not might as well just use AI and generate our own images.
Yeah looks like no longer feasible. Lowest plan for standard $8999 which doesn't include gifs. $11,999 for premium paid annually.
Going to look into https://tenor.com/ heard some issues with nsfw images, maybe use ai to detect them out? Amazon's ai api or openai.
I completed a Tenor api version submitting to mod site. Its free!
