Title: Logo isues for SMF
Post by: rcane on January 20, 2021, 04:34:35 PM
HI there,

I'm still looking around for previous threads on it, but I cannot get a logo to load.

I'd start with asking:

1. preferred image format
2. max image size / aspect ratio?
3. image name? (are we replacing smflogo.png or using any unique name)
4. url:  need it be the local path as SMF begins to preload, or must I put the full url with the scheme in front?

I do apologize if this has been covered extensively elsewhere.

Does that help any?

Not quite.  But, I did solve it.

for some reason, using the URL with the public_html/blah/blah/images/xxxx.png wasn't doing it.

If I just put the domain name and the image name it worked fine.   WAyyyy too big, but that's another story.  I'm actually closing this thread in light of a new thread asking about logo sizes for "ant's mutant curve theme" for better responsiveness..

But, thank you for answering on the first day.  I do appreciate it.

That's because your first text is a path,  not a url

Quite true.

I expected SMF to know it was starting from the domain's root and just accept the path.  In fact, that's how the URL was displayed in the theme's GUI when I installed it--leaving me to just change the image folder and name.

but you can't use public_html in a URL - even a relative URL
