Title: Quick Response/Response Retention
Post by: FrizzleFried on March 14, 2023, 11:05:50 AM
Maybe it's just a setting?  Anyway... I've noticed that using other forum software... that when I screw up and accidently hit "BACK" (for example)... or even leave completely then come back to the same post... the "QUICK REPLY" text I'd already written is auto-populated.

I noticed just now that my forum (SMF 2.1) does not do this.  I accidently went BACK then when I went back forward all the text I'd written (a pretty decent amount) was gone.

Is there a MOD (perhaps) or setting or some such thing that would allow the same behavior as the other forum software (retention)?

Thanks!

Use the auto saving post drafts?

(Retention is a bit murky, you can go back years and find discussions on this behaviour in SMF, back to 2010, where it's browser dependent, and whether you're in WYSIWYG mode or not. But the drafts will be saved to the server so they won't disappear. It's not the solution you're actually asking for but I don't think fixing what you're asking for is doable without a lot more change under the hood.)

Firefox has an extension that does exactly what you want if you're using that.
