At this point, most of the things that end up new in there are necro posts (which just get split/locked/sarcastic responses), or people upgrading (which aren't really a 1.x support issue because it's not supporting 1.x but supporting a 2.x that's just having trouble becoming a 2.x)
Seems like a good idea to me.
If it's no longer being supported, due to EOL, then the board for it should be closed.
Or at least make it read only.
I've been asking this roughly once a year since 1.1 went EOL. The answer is always 'but what about upgrades' - which I answered. Anything else is just moderation busywork and I keep pointing out that this can be entirely avoided... by making the board read only!
+1
Makes sense. Also, on the board index it is just extra clutter, and shunts more useful boards down the page.
Was gone for a day or two, today it's back. :-\
It's there, just moved further down.
No, it wasn't there yesterday. 2.1 was first, 2.0 second, 1.1 was gone.
No, it was not ever gone
<sigh>
Make this a poll and let the community decide!? 8)
Does it need to be a poll?
Why not? I agree with you that 1.1 is way past EOL but the fact that there are still people using it (which eludes me) they will still argue that the board should remain. Let it be! Again "Why not"? Isn't this a community driven program? Then let the community decide...with a poll?
Just my 2 cents worth! ;)

I get what you're saying though!
The reason I am tired of polls is that I genuinely believe one of the demons haunting this project as a whole is a perceived need to not only be democratic but perceived to be so.
The golden years of this project were when it had project management that just *did*. And knowing it was going to be to everyones' tastes but as the old adage says, can't please all of the people all of the time.
It's the same reason why 2.1 especially took so long, few people with a singular vision and too many people playing design by committee. DBC merely guarantees you end up with the project that annoys the fewest people - at the cost of *satisfying* no one.
Everything of merit is debated to the point where any momentum to *do* gets lost.

This is very true!
So. As the Support Lead I have the following statements:
1- there will be no poll - this is not a community decision.
2- the 1.1 board will remain visible (although moved to a less prominent position) for now.
thank you for your suggestions.
That's a missed opportunity - there hasn't been a thread in the last year that was actually genuinely a 1.1 support issue, that I can find anyway, they're all upgrade issues that shouldn't really be in 1.1 in my mind.
There hasn't even been a post in the 1.1 Charter boards for years.
I must extend my appreciation to whoever archived board 253, though, that absolutely passed its use a while ago.

LOL, yeah
Ummm. What board was 253 anyways?
A board that had 3 people posting in it for a very old, very specific reason. It ceased to be relevant 9 years ago.
A temporary solution years ago, so now - old and useless.
EDIT: I completely missed Arantor there, lol. But yeah - That ^
