Title: Advanced Member Search
Post by: MartyHunter on July 02, 2023, 02:51:47 PM
Having converted from VBulletin 3.8 to SMF 2.1.4, I am a bit lost without some of the additional search functionality I am used to in my age old VB installation.

Namely, being able to pull up bands of search results. For example, in SMF member search you can find members with less than, or more than x posts. I'd love to be able to find all members with between 20 and 50 posts (for example), or same for the other search criteria currently offered.

I can't see any mods that do this, but I did notice this mod for an Attachment Browser (https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=4318) which includes the following text in description:

"Tag Filters:
When using the tags to filter the list of attachments, the search utilizes ANDs across tag categories, and ORs within tag categories."

Sounds like that mod is doing what I'd like to do on member searches, whether the code could be used as a base for this I don't know.

Also, when you do find a list of members in search, there is only ONE thing you can do with them! (Delete them). I'd like to be able to PM them, email them, ban, change permissions, warn, whatever else.

Would love it if someone had a way to make this doable.
Thanks

As per the rules, can you please specify if this is a paid or a free request?

Well, you can actuality do that.
Set a post-count-based membergroup at 25 and another at 50.

You can then view all members who are in this group...
You can also send a message to all of those members....

Thanks Kindred, I did consider post count based groups, that would certainly bunch them nicely how we want. However I can't see any way to message just those people. The only option at the bottom is to delete the selected members.

PS, sorry didn't know about free/paid. for now this request would be free in case anyone already has some code that's half way there.

Re Kindred's post above, i am not sure it's true to say I can already do what I mention in my post. I suggested being able to take bulk actions like PM or ban etc, and I also said I'd like to be able to find all members who match bands of criteria, such as registered between two dates, rather than just before/after a date.

Use the newsletter function to send a message (either pm or email) to a targeted group
