Title: Privacy Policy, needed or not
Post by: Nodaz on November 11, 2024, 11:10:03 AM
I just upgraded two old forums to 2.1.4 and am getting them back into working order.
When i log in now i am met with a banner

"Warning
You are requiring new users to accept a privacy policy; however, the privacy policy is empty."
My question is this , does everyone require a privacy warning ( these are pretty small community based forums for and HOA and small community based on poker)>

if so, is there a good blanket template that i can cut and paste?

Going to depend on your local laws/country laws.

Even if it's not strictly required for everyone, I think providing one is a good idea. People like transparency.

The contents of the policy however, depend entirely on you - what info do you collect, how it is used, for what purposes, and so on.  Important to remember, it's NOT an agreement, it is a policy that you set and enforce.
