Last night we migrated our SMF 2.0.19 from an old server with php version 7.4 to one with 8.1
I see no obvious problems with forum but we are getting hundreds of errors.
I plan to upgrade to the latest SMF version when the rest of our migration is complete but is there anything I can do in the meanwhile and is there anything I need to know.
Thanks
what errors are you getting?

It looks like the Simple Portal isn't compatible with php 8.x. Hence why you get the errors where the aforementioned mod is mentioned.
Regarding the Call to undefined function shell_exec error message, most likely your host has disabled it.
To prevent that error from re appearing try to to disable the host name lookup at your forum's admin panel.
I get an error when I try to uninstall simple portal.
Also, where in admin panel do I find disable host name lookup?
Thanks

Regarding this it would be best to post at that mod's support topic.

Look at the The Server Settings section of your Admin Panel.
SMF 2.0.19 itself only supports PHP 8.0, not PHP 8.1. I recommend that you upgrading to SMF 2.1.4.

That is what I will do, thanks.

After disabling host name lookup we are now getting only this error:
For some reason II cannot connect to the new server vis FTP so upgrade will have to wait until I get that fixed.
