I have a need for members to be able to post anonomously.
I have searched around but cannot find anything.
Does anything like this exist please or could a user switch to a profile called anonymous to post something.
This would only need to be for 1 board.

Enable guest posts. Then they can just logoff & post.
Of course they can just create a 2nd account also.

Might be able to adapt this mod (https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=2626) to do what you want. You can ask in mod support.
There's a permission for using it -
Checking this option will allow the user to post as an alternative user (any registered member). They will also be able to change the user on any post they can modify.
I'm not aware of a 2.1 mod for this sadly. Years ago, I used to have a dedicated board for anon posting on my forum actually, it was with a mod that allowed selected user groups to post anonymously on selected boards. It was kinda fun, and allowed to keep the board out of guest sight.
