I like the default theme used here in all respects but the color scheme. I'd like to experiment with changing it, but I don't want to affect the installed version. My problem is that I'm dumber than a box of rocks I can't find it on the Themes board to download.
My plan - probably a foolish one - is to download it's files, find the CSS and experiment with changing colors. I want use the theme on my SMF forum but want the colors to be consistent with my webpage color scheme.
Is this possible? Am I on a fool's errand? Where can I learn more about creating and modifying themes? What is the name of the default theme? (I've seen it called 'Curve' and 'Curve 2'.)

I saw that instruction but could find no place to download the default theme. Again, being dumber than a box of rocks and a bag of hammers combined might be the root problem. I'm afraid I need more explicit instructions.
You are already using it. All you need to do is follow the instructions.
The default theme is on your server in the Themes/default directory.
Once you use the internal admin function to create a copy if default, then put any files that you edit for your custom theme into the new theme directory
(Themes only need to have the CHANGED files)
