Title: Support for Manual Translation of posts?
Post by: Tobias Eigen on February 20, 2006, 08:31:08 PM
Hi,

I've seen alot of discussion of support for setting up SMF in different languages, but was interested to find out if anyone has thought about creating a mod to have a multiple language forum - something like Mambelfish (http://mamboxchange.com/projects/mambelfish/) for the Mambo/Joomla CMS. It would work like this: users set up their preferred language(s), and are displayed the forum topics that exist in their language(s). If a posting exists in mutiple languages, users can switch back and forth between the languages with a click. Users with translator permissions see a "translate this" link they can click to get an interface for manually doing the translation. More to it than this, I know, but this would be the gist of it.

Cheers,

Tobias

There is a partial solution to your problem that used bb codes for doing just what you're looking for. The problem is I am needing it and I couldn't find it again either. :-[
