Title: e107 & SMF?
Post by: Lazy on March 19, 2004, 07:31:04 AM
Hi :)

right now i`m using e107 portal and yabbSE, a huge community, but i want to update to SMF because it looks great and the new features (and speed) are impressiv.
hm, but i wonder, if theres a chance to use booth, smf as a e107 integration, with the same user database ? somehow..
i think, e107 is a great portal solution and has good chance to grow and reach old traditional cms solutions like nuke. even i think it`s better

Hey, what is the e107 website?

I know someone who uses it for a game website. It's currently bundled with phpBB. May take a bit of work to integrate SMF nicely with it though - maybe we could convince the developers to switch :D

We use e107 for our website, and YaBB SE for our Forum.  I would love it if I could use SMF for our entire website.  e107 is very buggy for us.

You guys should all go post on the e107 forums as well... Maybe if they see there's a lot of interest in merging their system with this board, they'll come to their senses and start working on it... ;)

Why hasn't anyone posted a request for this on the e107 forums? I don't want to do it because I'm a support specialist and they might think I'm just saying that because I am a team member...

I used to use e107 but switched due to all the hacking garbage that was going on at e107.org and e107coders.org
and it didn't have some of the features I really needed at the time...

They never even bothered to answer my post, probably a good indication that they are not the sort of support I'm after  ;)

then screw them (sorry about that) but let's get onto Mambo and/or another (let's say the official addon.. hehe) :P

I'd love to go on about JZ the whiterabbit's excellent and virtually flawless integration with mambo .. but as this post is about e107 .. so I wont  :D

Also, the portal addon for SMF can only be superb as SMF "powers that be" endorse and support it (official) I'd hold off and wait for the official release, if you find it doesn't have what you need by way of features then look to the SMF/Mambo integration.
