Hello,
I would like to have my forum automatically change long links (i.e. 65 characters or more) to the form [*url=http://]Clicky[/*url] (without the *'s of course).
I found the section of code in Subs.php that finds the urls:
// Switch out quotes really quick because they can cause problems.
$data = strtr($data, array(''' => '\'', ' ' => "\xA0", '"' => '>">', '"' => '<"<', '<' => '<lt<'));
$data = preg_replace(array('~(?<=[\s>\.(;\'"]|^)((?:http|https|ftp|ftps)://[\w\-_%@:|]+(?:\.[\w\-_%]+)*(?::\d+)?(?:/[\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#+:\'\\\\]*|[\(\{][\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#(){}+:\'\\\\]*)*[/\w\-_\~%@\?;=#}\\\\])~i', '~(?<=[\s>(\'<]|^)(www(?:\.[\w\-_]+)+(?::\d+)?(?:/[\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#+:\'\\\\]*|[\(\{][\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#(){}+:\'\\\\]*)*[/\w\-_\~%@\?;=#}\\\\])~i'), array('$1', '$1'), $data);
$data = strtr($data, array('\'' => ''', "\xA0" => ' ', '>">' => '"', '<"<' => '"', '<lt<' => '<'));
So, I tried putting something like:
if (strlen($data) < 65) {
$data = preg_replace(array('~(?<=[\s>\.(;\'"]|^)((?:http|https|ftp|ftps)://[\w\-_%@:|]+(?:\.[\w\-_%]+)*(?::\d+)?(?:/[\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#+:\'\\\\]*|[\(\{][\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#(){}+:\'\\\\]*)*[/\w\-_\~%@\?;=#}\\\\])~i', '~(?<=[\s>(\'<]|^)(www(?:\.[\w\-_]+)+(?::\d+)?(?:/[\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#+:\'\\\\]*|[\(\{][\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#(){}+:\'\\\\]*)*[/\w\-_\~%@\?;=#}\\\\])~i'), array('$1', '$1'), $data);
}
else {
$data = preg_replace(array('~(?<=[\s>\.(;\'"]|^)((?:http|https|ftp|ftps)://[\w\-_%@:|]+(?:\.[\w\-_%]+)*(?::\d+)?(?:/[\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#+:\'\\\\]*|[\(\{][\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#(){}+:\'\\\\]*)*[/\w\-_\~%@\?;=#}\\\\])~i', '~(?<=[\s>(\'<]|^)(www(?:\.[\w\-_]+)+(?::\d+)?(?:/[\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#+:\'\\\\]*|[\(\{][\w\-_\~%\.@,\?&;=#(){}+:\'\\\\]*)*[/\w\-_\~%@\?;=#}\\\\])~i'), array('Clicky', 'Clicky'), $data);
}
But the problem is that $data contains the entire message, rather than just the url. So, my if statement is checking the wrong variable. The pre_replace() function puts the url into $1, but that's just a local variable used in that function call only.
Does anyone know how I can check the length of the url instead of the entire message?
