Nice to see it is almost done, mytreo ;) You may consider creating a board at your forum where people can test things without worry of spam, like the test board here.
Thanks HarzeM
We now have a test board here
http://www.smfseo.org/forum/test-the-urls-or-put-your-spam-here/index.0.html
Nice url huh? ;)
Chris
Works great! I am loving it.
In a couple weeks see what happens.
Urls look excellent.
Looks good! On you're site, could you make the forum bigger, it's kind of squished. Any plans for a RC2 version?
The compatibility with 1.0.7 is a version thing of a mod installation thing?
I mean If I install it manually it is compatible with 1.1 rc2?
Best,
Carla
No, it is NOT compatible with 1.1 in any way shape or form no matter how you install it.
How many times do I need to say that in how many different ways?
The code in 1.1 is totally different to 1.0.7 in the places changed by SMFSEO (especially in the move/split/merge topics bit, and in all of it really) so you can't just manually install it, NO, it will just break your forum!
I have started looking at 1.1 and it won't take me too long to convert so be patient please!

Would threatening the mod with extreme violent force with a spoon make it compatible with 1.1 ?
Its cost a lot of money and time to get it this far.
It will happen but all of this takes more work than just a few lines of code as you will understand.

Thanks, I added a show/hide function to the left menu so you can "unsquish" the forum ;) (needs finishing but it works)
Yes, I have plans for a RC2 version, it will be ready when it's ready!
*hands mytreo some coffee*
Exactly what I was looking for, now i just need to sit and wait for the RC2 version :)
This would be a nice addition to my site and since I don't have the talent to build the mod myself I will gladly wait patiently for those that do and work to make great mods for SMF. Looking forward to the RC2 version...
It's not just nice, it's acutaly a must for most sides... what is a side that is not being found? And since i switched from the clumsy and somewhat italian MKP (that had SEO) to TP i neeed it again. Even if i search part of my sites URL i am listed at page 4 or 5 now, not as before page 1...

It would be helpful if you could send a list of other mods you have installed too.
The index.template.php error can be ignored but you will need to alter manually whichever theme you are using .
Looks very nice!!
Will you also rewrite the different actions from SMF in a next version?
Errr like which ones? We may do the profiles (with usernames and not numbers), but there is not much point in any of the other actions as they are not important to SEO at all.
Simply great! Nice job! :D
Any estimate on when this might be done for rc2?
Like other famous people said: "When it's done!" ;D
When its done it will be done.
If you want to help and speed things up , setup a temporary 1.07 board and install it.

@mytreo: If you need some help with translations, let me know. I will help then.
Other question about the mod: What about common updates of the forum? Will this be difficult if the SEO-Mod will be installed? And what about deinstalling of the mod, is this possible?

It's just a template error. Install the mod and fix it manually, it's like 20 characters to add in yourself.
This mod look so kewl ... No wonder its such a hot topic in the mods board now.
Anyway, this is a mod something like TinyPortal right ? So, i've only got to choose whether i were to use either one of this mod only right ? Or i could use both of it ?
at least will you tell me how and what file & codes in file should i fix? ::)

You should be able to use both, though I haven't test it yet. They deal with different things.
Would like to see this for RC2.

they are irellivent.
Just to be clear: they are warnings, not errors. I will fix this in the next release.
People, PLEASE remember this mod is still BETA and is for TESTING only. It has bugs and could very likely break your forum, especially if you are not really sure what you are doing, so DO NOT INSTALL IT ON LIVE BOARDS!
looking forward to a 1.1RC2 version! :D
I will happily donate some cash to this cause when this mod hits 1.1 RC2 status! Fantastic Effort Lads! 8)
as soon as i edit the .htaccess file on my website and on my local machine with apache running, i get this:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
does anyone know what is casuing this and what i can do to resolve it?
from that tiny amount of info: no. how would we?
can you tell us:
exactly what it says in the apache error logs
what version of apache/php you use and what OS
exactly what you have in the .htaccess file
is you apache even setup to allow .htaccess?
does your apache have mod_rewrite installed?
the apache error logs are the key thing to be looking at, that error message is just meaningless.

It will be out when it is ready. Just be patient guys ... I am sure the SMFSeo team is trying their best to get this mod working perfectly. Lets not pressure them :)
Maybe it helps if i added that i am willing to pay some money for this.
I will see this mod for RC2. Are you thinking?
My guess would be that it will be integrated into the next version of SMF... seems to take too long for a simple mod, especially an urgently needed one.
My thoughts exactly. I wonder why there aren't people who'd try to make one right now. A lot of people are willing to pay just to have their forums rank high in the search engines. Even vbSEO.org sells its product for $150 apiece, I don't see why anyone here wouldn't attempt to make this urgently-needed mod.
I guess you guys havent really thought about the time and money we are putting into this mod.
It is done for the main stable release.
It will take a bit longer for the release candidates that are coming out.
Of course i have thought about it, that is why i offer to pay for it ;)
This mod sounds great! I hope you will be adding the shorter profile URLs with member names instead of numbers because I have been searching all over for a way to do that. I'll be patiently watching this mod. Thank-you so much for all of your hard work!!
Will it be out soon, nowe that RC3 hit the road and there are not too many changes to be expected in the final?
lets wait for the final release
Better not... SEO is crucial to most websites. You can't be found... you don't exist.
Since i switched from SMF + MKP (that has SEO) to SMF + TP (for easier handling and because i was tired of italian helpfiles) i dropped from google rank 3 to google not listed with my page... :-(
Rc3? Rc3! :'(
if i am not mistaken
rc is a release candidate so as such it is not final and gold.
so its just waiting until the software goes gold.
Guess i got to put some meta-tags in my page by hand... it could be a couple of month until the final version, and since I switched from MKportal (with seo) to TP (without it) I can hardly finy my own site in search engines at all :(
The RC's are suposed to become less and less modified towards the final, i haven't seen the roadmap from RC3 to the final version but I doubt that there will be a lot of changes in something as basic as the interface you need to put some search words into the MOD or the place you display them as meta-tag?
Just adding my thoughts in this discussion: Do SMF posts appear in search engines? (Something to be concerned about) (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=112100.0)
please Rc3 :'( :'( :'(
SO you want it for a release candidate instead of the final.
I guess that could be done.
We can do all the work over and over again rather than just doing it once i guess.

Take a look at the basics (http://searchenginewatch.com/showPage.html?page=2167931) or use some Generator (http://vancouver-webpages.com/META/mk-metas.html) for your Website. I'm just not 100% sure where to put them in TP.
@SEO
Over and over again? I don't think you would have to change relevant parts from RC3 to final... that's what advanced RC's are for.... :'(

it's easy to fix this but someone must help me.
problem is that when post is moved in recycling board it need to run this code to add it in topic_lookup
$newtopic_text = beautifyme($subject);
db_query("
INSERT INTO {$db_prefix}topic_lookup

VALUES ($topicID, '$modSettings[recycle_board]', '$newtopic_text')", __FILE__, __LINE__);
but I don't know where to import it in
RemoveTopic.phpand I don't know to find needed variables
If we can really have it for RC3, that would be great and lovely esply now that most of us are already there, SEO can you help us :'(
I've used the SMFSEO version to apply on 1.3RC3. Have a look at http://www.uitkampen.nl. The only thing that doesn't work is using the Split topic function. I will have a look at it...
If I have enough time, I will make a patch so you can apply it on the RC3 with a standard mod. Can somebody give me some tips on maken the .XML file for the MOD ?
Thanks a lot fago :-D
Sorry, i did two mods, but somebody else made them a package for me...
great job fagao !!
i am waiting your mod
Any news?
I have a question:
Does this mod also work with IIS as webserver?
About the XML-question: I believe there is some documentation for it, right here on the website!
Hopefully a RC3 version will be released soon... :D

Are these rules the rules you are talking about?
RewriteRule ^([\-a-zA-Z0-9]*)/index.([0-9]*).html;(sort=[a-zA-Z]*) index.php?board=$1.$2&$3 [L]
RewriteRule ^([\-a-zA-Z0-9]*)/index.([0-9]*).html index.php?board=$1.$2 [L]

SMFSEO (http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=353) mod is a dead project now which has left many in the community very angry, upset and frustrated that such an awesome mod has been left like this.
I am pretty certain I could get at least a $100 to give to anyone who can make the SMFSEO mod compaitible with SMF 1.1 final.

This is (http://www.webmasterstalks.com/seo_4_smf-b46.0/) the top mod for SEO, the creator works very closely with the community and releases new versions frequently.
I use it for my forum (http://www.murraysworld.com/talk) and it works great!
is the version listed on the forum mark7144 listed above, the current version for smf 1.1.2? i can't tell. someone please advise.
SEO4SMF works with the latest version of SMF.
Hello,
I guess that "search engine friendly URLs" must be enabled for SEO4SMF to work correctly?
The problem is I cannot do this at my current provider...
