Otsikko: Bridge login does not log into Mambo!
Kirjoitti: Divine - heinäkuu 17, 2006, 05:46:03 IP
Greetings

We recently upgraded our Mambo 4.5.2 site to V. 4.5.4. The problem now is that when you log into the site using the SMF bridge, it does not log into Mambo, even though it logs into the forum. For example a publisher who logs in has not access to edit articles on the Mambo site. And all sections which has "registration" permission set on (such as the community) to be entered can now not be entered by members who log in (as, like I said, the brigde does not log into Mambo).

The bridge worked fine before the upgrade, but not now, how come? :-\

Peace
Divine

did you read any if the sticky posts in the mambo/joomla bridge support board?

Especially the ones that indicate that you will have to change bridge v3.19a to make it work with mambo 4.5.4

Kindred, I've read through the sticky posts but I haven't seen anything you are suggesting. Either I'm watching the wrong threads or I am clearly missing something, lol.

Feel free to help me out! :D

(yes, the bridge is 3.19a)

It is working now, thnx! :P

When I'm at it I have a further question. When you log in with the bridge on an account that has access to backend of Mambo (such as Admin), and then try to log in on the backend (administration) it does not recognize the password. I read somewhere that the cause of this is that Mambo and SMF encrypts the password differently and when you log in using the bridge the password gets encrypt SMF way so Mambo doesn't recognize it.

Is there any fix for this, so mods, admins etc etc can log in with the same password through both the brigde and backend of Mambo? (without resetting the password all the time, lol). Or should they simply avoid logging in using the bridge?  :-\

once you log into the bridge, you are logged into both SMF and mambo... and your passwords are synced (the user's mambo password is reset to match the password for that user in SMF)

Yes, I understand this. But the SMF and Mambo password is the same, and it is not possible to log in on the backend if one has logged into to frontend using the bridge.

Is there any way to get around this, or should admin and mods avoid using bridge if they want to be able to log into the backend (without resetting their password using the "Forget password" link)?

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

I am logged into the front end with 3 windows open and I can log into the back end just fine, using the same username/password combination...

Ok, i'll try one more time. :)

Our site consists of a Mambo page and a SMF forum. The bridge connects these two together.

Now, if an Admin logs into the bridge on the Mambo site, afterwards he can not log in on the Mambo backend (Administration mode). An error msg comes that says its either wrong username or password, despite them being correct. However an Admin can log onto the forum directly (not using the bridge) and afterwards also log onto the backend.

However for some reason it is not possible to log into the backend after one has logged into the frontend using the bridge. It is as if the password is changed or something. Still, the same password works on the frontend (on the bridge) and on the forum directly, but not on the backend. Of course the user and pass is the same on all areas.

So what's the problem? ::)

you obviously have something wrong with your set up, because I can do exactly that:
log into the mambo front end (using the bridge login module) and then click on the administrator link and log into the mambo back end with no problems at all.

Try this:

Change your password in SMF.  Log out.  Log back in with the new password.  Now try to login to the Mambo admin panel.

Probably, that is why I'm asking! :D

Lainaalog into the mambo front end (using the bridge login module) and then click on the administrator link and log into the mambo back end with no problems at all.

Which administration link? ::)

We don't got anyone on our site, lol.

When I log into the backend I write www.sitename.com/administrator and then log in from there, and that is where it doesn't work.

Try this:

Change your password in SMF.  Log out.  Log back in with the new password.  Now try to login to the Mambo admin panel.

That actually worked! :D
However, only with a password consisting of only letters (i.e. abcd..). If I choose a password with numbers and special letters (such as @ or -) it doesn't work still. And I would rather not use just letters for the password of an admin account (feels unsafe). Have I done something wrong? :-\
