Otsikko: Is it posible to install addons without ftp?

SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC2
As the topic says I want to install addons & themes without using ftp. I have the files on the server is there a way to do the install without the ftp command?

SMF needs FTP info in order to modify the files.

You could always do a manual install though.

excuse my ignorance how?
or.. is there some doco for a ingnoramas like myself to setup ftp with correct permissions on a linux box?
