I just wanted to ask for some help.... well actually a lot of help.
First question.... where do I go and what do I do to edit the footer. I am not moving the smf information. I just want to add information there.
Next.... how do I get ads on the site. I want to do two types. The first one is the simple google ads that will make me at least a couple dollars a month to pay for the hosting and such. Next I want to be able to place custom made ads next to certain categories and forums. I might be to novice for this but I want to work on it and try to get it so the site at least pays for itself.
Next... I have code that is not aligning correctly and I am going to want to know ways to get things running correctly. I usually use the downloads right from the admin area but some of them get errors and I guess I want to know where to put those errors so I can get help with them... I am using 1.1RC2 or whatever it is.
Last.... for now anyway ... Is what is the easiest way to get all the code to match up for the themes and templates. I have a few that are not displaying things.

Oh yeah I just thought of another lingering question... is there a way to archive. I don't want to totally get rid of the post put I do want them put into an archive type format....

Now, for most of your questions an answer can be found using the search button. For example, searching for ads will get you a variety of possibilities to put advertisement on your forum, from simple modifications to advanced mods. Also, do not forget to search the modsite (http://mods.simplemachines.org/) for this.

If you are experiencing any errors using smf standard functionality, please post them in the General English Support (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=9.0) board and keep in mind what you just learned about posting a supportrequest. Any questions regarding mods and custom themes should be posted in the topic about the mod / theme.
You question about themes not showing things is probably due to the fact that you are using a theme that is not compatible with the version of SMF you are using.
If you want help with the arcade mod, I suggest you try to find an answer in the topic about this mod (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=29619.0) or, if your answer is not there, ask your question in that very same thread.

Thanks for the reply. It let me know more on how the forum is setup and such. I have a few things I want to ask on each of the topics but it will have to come at another time because I don't have a lot of time to do much in searches and such right now. So when I find the time and the appropriate topic to post in I will ask.
Feel free to tell me whats good and bad about my forum if you please. I try to make improvements but I need another admin who can do things....but at this time I don't have one.... so I can't spend the time I want on getting things done.

One thing I've learned is that modifying and customizing your forum is going to take a LOT of time. If you want something unique, you will have to make efforts, make mistakes, but you will learn along the way which is good. This is a supportforum, though we certainly appreciate it if people start trying to figure things out using the amazing amount of information on this forum, and ask us for help if they have reached a point where they just can't get any further.
