I was hoping someone could give me some guidelines on using my own website header/footer files and using these in place of the default one.
My site is based on a fluid width header and foot, while the center container is fixed width at 765px and positioned in the center. All my site content is within this center container. I`ve done this because I like using the full width of a browser hence the fluid header/footer, but because of the high amount of images I use a fixed width content area was easier. I guess it`s the best of both worlds.
What I would like is to add is everything from the main navigation area (without the header/logo area) down to the copyright area, and place this within this center container. That way my site layout looks very similar throughout.
Obviously I would need to cut up my site template into two seperate header and footer files. The opening div tag for the center content container at the end of the header file, and the closing tag at the beginning of the footer file?
Where would I go from here?
Thank you.
It would be helpful if you could tell us what theme you are using and what forum version.
I`ve just switched from Invision, so I`m used skinning the default invision skin. I understand that the SMF templating system is quite different.
I don`t have a theme installed at the moment so I`m using the default on smf 1.1rc2. I do like the look of the Oxygen theme from Bloc and may go with that.
Sorry I wasn`t more descriptive.
