Otsikko: How to REMOVE *ALL* Mods ??
Kirjoitti: DHC - elokuu 22, 2006, 02:22:30 IP
SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC2
The source of my problem is Apache File Owner, and subsequent Permissions.

When I use the Package Manager built into SMF for uploading and installing packages, Apache (on my host) always sets the file owner as 'nobody' - which then becomes problematic in numerous ways.

I had installed about 10 modifications such as Topic Ratings and Visual Warning and others - but have now removed them.

When removing them I received numerous "Test Failed" messages - owing to the fact that the system could NOT find or access the proper file.

I now want to clean the entire system and start over using FTP uploads for package installation.

What can I do, short of a new SMF installation, to clean out the numerous references to those modifications and the files they modified? I see some backup archives in the /Packages/backups folder. Is there information there I can use?

TIA

I would recommend just uploading fresh files from the default package over all files except Settings.php and Settings_bak.php.
