Otsikko: Admin / Security Statistics
Kirjoitti: caipirinha - elokuu 26, 2006, 07:55:43 AP
There are some stat funcions in the admin area I am really missing:

1) Logins with same IP on different Users
You have to check the error log by hand to see login attempts from the same IP on different accounts. Also filtering on faild login and registration attempts from the same IP.

2) Users with the same IP
Sometimes, users take a new e-mail and create a new account.
The easiest way to find out is to check the IP or IP block

3) Multiple Search on Users
Multiple search within the Members/Groups, f.e. by group, reg.date, time online, topics started, ...
This is for checking the avtivity of members because replys only may not be enough

4) Settings for Overall Stats
Would be nice to be able to change the settings in the overall stats, what you like to see and how many topics you like to have in the stats.

I would think these would go good as features (or mods if they don't make it)

Most of those are available from the users profile.

To have them in the admin area would be way too hard to control - information overload.

For instance, one user on AOL could have hundreds (maybe thousands) of IP addresses and many other AOL users could be using the same IP's so you end up with pages and pages of numbers which are pretty useless.

I agree that the failed logins would be nice if it was sperate from the errorlog.

Point 3 is good.

I cant see the point in point 4 :)

Sorry, but the stats are poor.
I agree, SMF is the best I ever had on my webspace. But the stats on all boards are really poor. I dont know why.
Years ago, a guy made a advanced stats module for phpBB. As I can remeber, it was one oft the most requested hacks.

Information overload for the users? The stats should be for the admin(s).
It's like controlling in a company, things you have to know as a webmaster. Things making your life a bit easier if you are making a serious job.
As an admin, you should be able to handle it!

I don't like to have it as a mod. I like to have it as a SMF feataure. I hate mods because of updates.
