I've been reading the topics about karma, everybody seems to know what it is. ::) What is it for ?

Karma is a sort of user-rating system, that allows people to "smite" or "applaud" other users. You can set it to display the total karma (ie total positive and negative combined) or show both positive and negative karma. You can enable the system from the "Features Settings and Options" area of the admin center, and can also choose who can use it from the permissions screen. It is also quite easy to choose the labels for "smite" and "applaud".
Karma is basically your popularity level in the forum.
Hi Peole...just looking around for some function im looking for..I was just mentioned by a member (new member) of my forum that he was not able to give karmas.
I've been looking around in the "edit permission" section of the admin area and also in " Edit Features and Options " and in the last one i have "Set the minimum posts needed to modify karma" to 0.
Still new guests are not able to give karma, only the admin and moderators.

ok, thank you. how do I set up a "wait time between karma giving" ::) in minutes, instead of hours ? in this moment I can set people to wait 1, 2... hours, but not 15-20 minutes. I tried 0,2 and 0.2 formats but it doesn't works.

0.2 shoud work just fine, but that only applies to admins. I don't think you can do it for regular users.
when I put 0.2 and save, it refreshes and in the time to wait field, there is a 0 (not 0.2).

Hmmm... They must have changed the way that works. It worked fine in YaBB SE. I don't think it's really a big deal anyway because that wait time only applies to admins.
ok. how can I set it up to have the members to wait at least 5 minutes between karma giving ? I have members that just add karma one to the other and vice-versa !! they put 100 karma points in 5 minutes, just to be popular !! ;D and if I set it to wait 1 hour, they can´t give karma on messages basis (assuming that a regular member could read a message every 5 minutes and give karma to the author again).

Actually, looking at the code now, I think that does apply to all members, and you can choose to restrict admins as well (that's why I thought it only applied to admins). Just go ahead and set it to an hour and they'll get an error message if they try to do it more than once within an hour.
EDIT: Here's what you do to allow for decimals in the karma wait time:
In Sources/ModSettings.php
Find:
'karmaMode', 'karmaWaitTime', 'karmaMinPosts',
Replace:
'karmaMode', 'karmaMinPosts',
Find
$config_floats = array(
'time_offset',
Add after
'karmaWaitTime',
Is there any way to make the karma look more advance ? applause & smite look very simple.
