I've done everything right, I think.  I uploaded a theme from my servers path, yet after install is complete I go to choose the theme but it shows a default normal theme.  Can someone help me?

when you say install, you mean
Admin> Themes and Layout> Manage and Install> Install a New Theme?

whats the version of SMF and the theme your trying to install.
is the theme compatible? not all are.

Both are 1.1 RC3.  I've used ftp to make the themes contents go inside the themes folder on my server. When I select a theme to use it shows up as...well, in fact similar to this boards default theme.
