Otsikko: fresh installation?
Kirjoitti: NotNice - elokuu 28, 2006, 05:44:00 AP
I have my SMF forum (1.1 RC2) up and running, but I think I messed up something because there are a lot of error-reports all ths time. I tried a lot of packages, deleted them reinstalled them, deactivated, and so on. In short, I had a great time trying everything! The forum is working as it should, no problems, but still... I am not too happy with the reports.

When I tried to do the update through the admin-center I got a big fat error-message telling me not to go on, and I am not too happy about that.

Is it possible to install the SMF forum (1.1 RC3, so the upgraded one!) on another location, make a back-up of the 'old' forum (1.1 RC2) and install all members, boards and messages in the new one? The advantage (for me) would be that if I screw up the old forum is still operational and if it does work all I have to do is change the link on my website.

Does the joomla bridge work for 1.1 RC3?
I do not use the bridge now, I have just recently joomlized my site, and I will wait with the bridge untill i have a flawless forum ;)

I would recommend upgrading to 1.1 RC3, and a joomla bridge is avaiable I think :P

does 'just upgrading' take out the errors I created by having fun with packages?

Yes it will as it removes the clutter you made :P
