I followed the instructions in the online help and I'm pretty sure I did everything correctly but I can't open my smf directory it says FORBIDDEN (screen shot 2) when I click on it yet I can open any of my other personal folders (screen shot 1). I'm thinking it has something to do with my FTP when I right click on the designated smf files to show properties/CHMOD/Permissions but little box says "777".

Are you sure you uploaded SMF into the correct directory?
Hey Jerm, sorry about the pics. I tried to make them bigger but they got even smaller :) so I just deleted them. I think my picture hosting service has a size limit. Anyway, yes I'm pretty sure I uploaded correctly. I unzipped the program to it's own directory on my hardrive, then I used my FTP program to go to my server and created a directory called smf then I uploaded the program as was unzipped to the smf directory on my server but when I click on the smf directory with my browser it says "FORBIDDEN, You Don't Have Permission to Access /~gmike/smf on this server". But, I can click on any one of three other directories I've created there and get right in. This is free space provided by my ISP and maybe they don't allow hosting of a board or forum, etc. I've always been curious about these programs but I think I'll just let it go. It is possible, try contact your ISP to see if you are allowed to.
