Otsikko: After "unzip," cannot transfer folders/files to URL >>

Plenty of memory on this machine, but both FireFox FTP and Dreamweaver's FTP abend after partial uploads of new install files/folders. Happens after rebooting too, with no other programs running.

I'm trying to get started again after my Forum disappeared over the weekend. In fact, all my access to simplemachines disappeared. Can deleting the email address you used to first sign-up with simplemachines do that? Any advice appreciated.

Can you try using FileZilla to upload the files?
Otsikko: Many thanks for the advice. Altho the files are small, there are many, yes?

When the window opens so that certain files can be made writeable, it will not accept my FTP info as valid, even though it is identical to the info that FileZilla and my other FTP software use to access my server. Any advice appreciated.

Try checking your settings such as passive FTP, and other settings that may be need to be changed.
Otsikko: Thank you, I will give your suggestion a try! >>>

But those settings do not exist on the install.php window that is displayed.  Can you suggest where they are?

Is it just me, or is installing this a lot more complicated than it was back in January? I seem to recall the whole process took me about an hour, with no problems along the way. Ah, well, it is still very impressive forum software. Thanks!
