Otsikko: Creating Replies etc takes too long
Kirjoitti: jyajay - elokuu 31, 2006, 07:15:32 IP
How can it be that writing new topics as well as logging in or out is taking up to 20 seconds?

Although the server load is low and the reading performance (browsing through the forum and reading the mySQL database) writing takes forever.

I am using 1.1 RC3 and eAccelerator with Caching 3, but that doesn't effect the slowness at all.

The host name lookup feature can fail on some networks that have a bad configuration or an extremely tight firewall.

Look in Features and Options--> Layout and Options-> Disable hostname lookups?

This will limit some of your ability use ban triggers by host name and you will only see IPs for users not host names.

We had several users in our forum that would see 30 second delays on functions like posting, it was almost instant after disabling this feature.

Thanks for the tip but host lookup was alsways disabled at my board. I kinda noticed that even on simplemachines.org the login and logout takes about the same time as at mine. Even though the reply is slightly faster here, maybe it is a general "problem" with SMF adding replies to the database(?)

My board and this board (most of the time) are nearly instant.. There must be another factor with your system and connection interacting with the board.

Edit: This reply took 3 seconds from the time I let go of the button. Each page on this site has a time stamp at the bottom.. Go to the index of the forum.. my time is "Page created in 0.142 seconds with 6 queries."
