e.g.

google.com

should be auto. displayed by smf as

google.com (http://google.com)

That would be rather a difficulty, because it would have to detect an ending, then it would be unable to detect a start.

What happens if I'm talking about the file command.com that was all the rage back in the day?  Obviously I'm not refering to any website, so why should it link it?

It would also conflict with the idea of defining a file type to do so, but this feature isn't likely :P

Also, I want to give an example.say (http://example.say) you are typing dot chars without a trailing space.it (http://space.it) will try to convert these into links.it (http://links.it) will also be hard to distinguish actual links from others.
