Apparently some tables are corrupt on my boards - or something like that: http://www.braxtanfilm.com/smf/index.php
The last few days the boards have been running slower and slower, and now you can't get into about 80% of the topics.
My question is, should I re-install? If I do, how do I go about doing that--will it wipe out the old database? I made a backup yesterday, but I'm hoping this will be as easy as simply running the installer again. I'd also like to keep the theme, but I can re-install that. What is important is the users, posts, etc.
try using the forum maintenance link located at
Admin> Forum Maintenance
I did that--oddly enough it finds no errors.
Try reparing the tables with phpmyadmin
What is phpMyAdmin? (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=21919.0)
I have tried MyAdmin as well. I did the recommendation (which was to "ignore" a table), and get no results.
Honestly, would running the installation program again hurt me?

Thanks for all the info, everyone!
I feel so lost! Seriously, I'm ready to pay someone to fix this!!!!!
Do you get any errors from MySQL?
It can't find any errors.
A couple of days ago I downloaded a backup, and ever since then I've had this problem.
That shouldnt cause a problem. Open up the site again and see if you can get users to report error messages that they get. This will help track down the problem.
These are the errors I've been getting:

Umm you are using a 1.1 theme on 1.0.8. They are not compatible.
That I can understand. The problem is, it started doing this BEFORE I upgraded to 1.08. I upgraded hoping it would fix the problem.
You had 1.1 installed before?
No, it was 1.0.7. Worked great for about three months. Then it started with this problem on Sunday (right about when I made the backup), so I thought if I upgraded it would help, but it didn't. The whole thing was converted from phpBB2.
You can try uploading the upgrade package and running upgrade.php. Your current data will stay in tact. Mods will be gone though.
I have no mods, but I ran the upgrade package on Sunday--hoping it would fix the problem. I'm just going to have someone go over MySQL and see if he can figure it out. Otherwise, I don't know what to do other than call it quits. 3 years of posts and members down the tubes!
Have you checked with your host to see if MySQL is running fine?
No, but I thought about it!
I turned the SQL over to a friend of mine who deals with it much more than I. I'm sure he can fix it. I was just hoping to figure it out myself here on the boards and not continue to be helpless!
But...I'm helpless!
Jay--thanks for all your effort! I really appreciate your time.
If he's not able to find the problem just make a post.
