Ok problem, Ive got the blue and red themes here, i downloaded them as zip files, i tried installing them, they were installed successfully, but when i go to change the theme there is no difference. Do i unzip if and install each individual file or what ???
Help would be very much appreciated! :D
When viewing current theme setting see if the directory path is correct.
well im doing this as an admin, im not running it from my own ftp. it's from a friend's, does he have to install it on there so that it can be used, or can i just upload it straight to the forum, like installing it?
Check in theme settings that directory path is correct like Spriger said. From admin panel, not in FTP ;) Also, did you upload those files in your forum?
so all i do i browse on the Theme and Layout Settings screen, browse on My Comp, get the zip file and press install? does the directory on the server count for anything? if it does it ends with ..../themes/

No. Install new theme name it anything you want. Then unzip your theme package and upload all those files in that dir you just created. Look also in under theme settings (in admin panel) that themes dir is right.

Okay lets try again.
Create new dir in your themes, like Themes/Mytheme
Then upload all your unzipped theme files in that dir. Then go admin panel, and choose "Install a New Theme" and write your dir there, like /html/smf/Themes/Mytheme or whatever your dir is. Then just push "Install!"
Or go admin panel, and choose "Create a copy of Default named" and write something like "mytheme" and push "install!". Then upload your unzipped files to that dir and overwrite.
ok ive done all that now, i think the only problem now is that im missing the theme_info.xml file for the Red Theme

Does it work? That xml file isnt nessessery.

You can copy it from another theme.
