Title: Show all feature
Post by: Metho on September 01, 2003, 03:45:48 AM
I'd recommend disabling this when # of post equals so many. When I hit the all on the word assoc. post which was 108 pages, creation time was 3.6 seconds. Not concerned about load time, but certainly loading that much all at once must be icky for the server?

I suggest to make it user configurable, like it was discussed here

Admins should be able to override this, if I have a 50 page thread I don't want it as an option.  Let an admin set the max thread pages length that All is shown.

I love the new page selection list on thread headers... "[All]" is something I've been secretly wanting for a long time. I have a relatively fast computer, a broadband connection, and don't mind scrolling -- having all the posts listed on one page is a really neat feature! Was it just added today? I didn't notice it before..

Yes it was actually added today. And I like this option, too ;)

Yes, as I was saying, I am NOT talking about displaying page numbers. I'm talking about the new feature to show all threads on one page. If you try that on the word assoc. thread it's trying to load somewhere around 1686 threads at once. Doesn't seem very friendly to the server from my perspective. I'd second it being admin definable, but I'd also like to see a default value besides 0 set as well. *shrug* If not, I'll just do it myself when I get my grubby hands on the code. Is just a suggestion.

Yes, I'd agree with both David... make it something that can be disabled or configured by the Admin. I don't see the need to make it user-configurable, personally; if the user doesn't like it, they needn't click it.

Well, unless users with slow machines/net connections start complaining that they are clicking on "All" by accident or ignorance, and having to wait for the thing to load 1000 posts.

I like the "All" option... but theres no space between it and the "go up" and "go down" buttons... which is annoying

It also shows up even if the topic is just one page.
