Title: Odd behavior with user IP logging/tracking
Post by: Jack.R.Abbit™ on June 07, 2004, 11:24:55 AM
So I was looking in my error logs and I noticed that several members had entries like:
Quote    http://www.mydomain.com/index.php?action=trackip;searchip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
You are not allowed to moderate this forum.
(url and IP have been altered)

So I was thinking to myself, how do they get there... then I thought to check that area in each post where is shows admins the poster's IP and everyone else just sees "Logged".  I noticed that every one sees their own IP there which is linked to the "trackip" action... but they get a permissions error for clicking it.  Seems odd.  I don't have a problem showing each member their own IP there... but should it really be linked if they can't actually do the action?

I'm almost certain that this is cvs only, and yes I do know about it.

:D  I'm running a CVS board (FYI, it happens here as well)

But I'm glad to hear it is a known.... uh.... what ever it is.... not a bug.  :)
