I have several questions that I need answered. I have already checked the section that tells me the difference of the programs and what to download if you want this, etc.
Anyhow, here is what I am wanting and if someone can just answer this simple question, it would be greatly appreciated! :)
I am wanting a forum or SMP program that has forum capabilities where you can post topics and such, a chat room, where you can have live online chats and an online calendar, where you can post events happening in the chat room and people can post their own events on the calendar.
Now, knowing these are all of the features that I am looking for, which SMP program is going to be the best program in order to achieve all of these things?
Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I am not very tech savvy. However, I am very computer and internet literate.

SMF has all of those things. Just download the install package on the download page, but for chat you will need to install a mod.
