Title: Installation via Webinstall.php
Post by: gordey0 on December 27, 2006, 02:15:38 AM
SMF Version: SMF 1.1.1
Hey,

I was trying to install SMF 1.1.1 from the Webinstall.php script but I get this error message:
We are sorry but the installer was unable to download the installation package details from the Simple Machines website. You may download the packages manually by using the SMF Download page.

Click here to try this step again.

Does anyone here know what this may mean?

Thanks,
Gordey0

It means that the server your site is on is configured not to allow package downloads by a script. You can install SMF manually by following the instructions found here (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=2.0;sort=subject).

I've the same error today. I tried it several times, anything to do with the smf.org server?
