Title: UTF8-only board in English/German - fresh installation
Post by: Mnementh on February 19, 2007, 03:12:34 AM
Hi,

I'm asking this here again, as it appears that it's not a general support topic:

I made a fresh install of the latest SMF version, during the installation process I chose "UTF-8" as the main charset of the forum.

After that I installed the German-UTF8 language pack, no problem there.

I then checked the files in the default/languages folder and saw that the English version is "just" the normal English version, not the UTF-8 one.

Should I install the English UTF-8 version too?
Do I need to make any adjustments to the database after that?
Do I need to delete the "just" English files and folders?

I want the board to be all UTF-8, as there may be posts among both languages containing UTF-8 only chars (e.g. Cyrillic).

Greetings

M.

Ich weiß nicht warum du nicht im deutschen Board schreibst, aber na gut...

Install all UTF-8 languages and then convert your forum database to UTF-8 (admin center -> maintain area). You can delete the non-UTF-8 ones after that.
