90 something in a 35. And no, I don't speed nearly as much these days. The resulting fine and additional expenses has pretty much curbed me of this. As for avoiding it, well, don't be extreme about it for the most part but here it is easier as there really aren't a lot of police officers in the more remote areas. There are cities that have a larger population than the entire State here has.

Quite a few, too many to really list them all actually, I lead an interesting and adventure-filled life. Most recently a wrist but I have broken everything from my nose to my jaw and even had a compression fracture in my neck after a snowmobile ISSUE.

Here's one I can share... When I am out and about with someone I have no problems making them embarassed. I will do things like wait until there is no one really paying attention and then I will yell out, "Hey! Stop touching me there!"

Did you flash your military ID for that ticket?

Peter: he doesn't need to pretend to be stupid - he is a Jarhead ;)

I am, of course kidding. Inter-service jokes are common and they shouldn't be done by people outside of the military. We kind of take offense to 'civies' doing that, but we only fire back with another insult when "one of us" does it. Don't worry Mike (Thantos), you can joke on me being in the Nasty Guard and the Army all you want.

I never thought of it way way...

Quote26 Have you ever been on an airplane? Technically yes but normally I am in them. I have been on the wing of a few small planes though to get into them.

I like that, on an airplane vs in an airplane, it creative... I gonna steal it :D j/k

QuoteHow many hours a day do you spend in the computer? Varies. 16 to 24. (I work on one.)
Don't you mean 18-26 hours a day.

Under the circumstances I am pretty sure that wouldn't have helped. ;) It was a wee bit too fast for the officer to be forgiving.

Most people never do. He is a man who adheres to his convictions regardless of adversity. While his politics and antics aren't appreciated by the masses his country manages to survive and, frankly, compared to some of what is going on in the world really aren't that bad.

What was the winter like up there in Maine this year?
Title: Re: Get to Know the Team - KGIII

LOL Thanks for helping me drum interest up Femlow. (For those who don't know she is actually my girlfriend who came all the way to Maine to go to a small college.) We want, SMF, to keep the blogs alive and to have interesting content here that exposes who we are and so...

The winters in Maine. Well? They are pretty sad really lately. We didn't get much snow this year and the coldest it got up here on the ridge would be maybe -45 to -55(f) degrees. Many years, here, I see windchills take it down to 20 degrees cooler and, I think, the most I have seen would be about 16 feet of snow. The snow drifts, though, can be well over 30 feet.

Today, well... We had a freak storm that resulted in a couple of deaths and some accidents. Nothing too major really but, the snow was unexpected and there are no snowbanks to keep people safe from hitting hard stuff. The snow melted recently.

Tomorrow night we are expecting a foot or so of snow but this is April and predictions are hard so we could get 2 inches, none, or 2 feet. They really can't tell. While it is spring elsewhere it really isn't here.

The blistering cold is followed by some insane heat so we get some extreme weather when you compare the differences between the two numbers. The saying, in Maine, goes: "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute." I've seen snow in July and seen a pond (small one though) ice up on my way to watch the fireworks in July.

In short? I wouldn't live anywhere else. I live here by choice and I love the weather, the seasons (except for Black Fly Season) and being in a remote area even though it is a hardship.

So you'll tell us about Black Fly Season?

I'm fairly sure that averaging 80 in the hottest months of summer does not count as "insane heat"... That hardly even counts as heat where I'm from during that time of year... 80's are the days when the rivers are empty because its finally cool enough to be outside without needing to be wet as well to prevent over-heating. Those are good days. I'm looking foreward to the "insane heat" here this summer...

Peter:

I can do better than that. I will bring pictures. You will have to wait and subscribe I suppose.

Femlow:

From 100 to -75 counts as extreme I suspect. ;) And, when the average is 48 or something silly... Well... 80 is insane heat.

Michigan's weather isn't quite that extreme, our range is pretty much averaging the 0 to 100 F range most of the time.

But we don't have blackflies that bad.

Are you into any anime or comics or anything like that?

Video Games?

I am not into anime or comics either though I do have a bunch of old comics still wrapped in plastic. I also have no real love of video games and the last really good games for the PC were, in order: Zork, Fallout, and Fallout 2.

We are currently getting the snot pounded out of us by the weather. Dead people and major flooding and the likes. The floods, while certainly beautiful, are something that happen here most every year but this is particularly bad with a good portion of the State without power.

Anyhow... I said all that just to say this - which is actually why I am posting this. Please take it easy on this as some of these images can be VERY large.

That will share a bunch of pictures though some of them are from Mt. Washington and I've just been too lazy to clean them out. Weather and all, I live here by choice and truly wouldn't change it very easily. (I may move further North at some point.)

Why did you choose the nickname: KGIII. Has it some sort of special meaning?

If you found one of those magic lamps that could fullfill you 3 wishes for one day (one day deal), what would these wishes be?
Title: Re: Get to Know the Team - KGIII
Post by: KGIII on May 21, 2007, 03:56:43 PM
It has special meaning that I opt not to disclose in public. You can ask me via chat some time if you would like assuming that my response stays there with you.

Three wishes eh?

1. For the day, seeing as it is only a single day, to be the best one, for me, ever no matter what.

2. To experience all the non-harmful things I can experience in a single day because I am greedy.

3. For everyone else to have a mediocre day because, well, today's mine and I've got three wishes so to heck with everyone one else - just give me my good day so that it makes me feel special and strokes my ego.

*grins*

Alright, so really I'd wish for plenty of money (and be specific enough to say that it couldn't disappear the next day) and I'd use that to make people (and myself) happier because money really doesn't buy happiness but does help put people into a position where they are more likely to be happy. A few thousand dollars is nothing to you or I but, well, imagine what that is to someone who's entire year's income is less than I spent this past weekend?

I'd also likely really wish for people to make more sense. While I haven't any desire to strike up a conversation about the faulty logic of zealous people I will say that it strikes me as odd to see people who are "naturalists" that don't eat meat. After all, well, what's more natural than eating meat? At the same time they are (may be) the same people who push for longer life but, at the same time they are pushing to put the Earth back as it was meaning that the health care they are so adamant about but, at the same time, it was that health care (or lack of it) that relied on technology and that diet when people died at much younger ages. So... I guess I'd either wish for people to be more logical or me to understand.

Hmm... And seeing as these are secondary wishes I think I would wish for all of the above and then, for my final wish, make one final one that asked that the QUALITY of the day be the same until we, those who existed now, died from natural causes.

I understand perfectly, in my country is like that. A few thousand dollars there, is relly a lot  for plenty of people, it could make their lives much much easier

Thank you very much for answering my questions

I wish you all the best bro
