Go to your SMF admin panel. Click on Features and Options. Scroll to the bottom, and you should see some PM settings, starting with "Enable reporting of personal messages". Make sure these four settings are to your liking, and click Save.

I believe the current version is 0.6.

Has there been an update to 0.6?
I'm getting the same error on line 188:
mysql_select_db($db_name, $db_connection);From this post (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=31389.msg925288#msg925288):
Quotethe smf header bot is not initialized in the backend... which means that SMF's SSI is not run, so the search routine has not idea what the variables $db_name or $db_connection are...
Is there a quick fix?

Hey, I just found this searchbot by handyphp.com (http://www.handyphp.com/index.php/Downloads/View-document-details/6-SMF-SearchBot-1.0.3-BETA.html). Requires registration to download. Not sure if it's been mentioned here before, but installed it quickly and no error messages. Appears to work.
Lots of configurable options as well! :)
edit Noticed a couple of issues:
- Haven't narrowed down the exact cause:
Notice: Undefined variable: rows in F:\xampp\htdocs\kaitech\mambots\search\smf.searchbot.php on line 447 - Returned URL of a specific message in post:
http://localhost/kaitech/option,com_smf/Itemid,71/topic,1878.msg6986/ (doesn't go straight to anchor/message)
should be
http://localhost/kaitech/option,com_smf/Itemid,71/topic,1878.msg6986#msg6986
