Would this work for Flash videos too? If im not wrong flash video uses a .swf first to then stream the flash vide .flv so the embedded flash would be a .swf, would this work, so i can then post a flash video?

First as HTML code it would not work, because the mod is only for the flash bbc code.

[flash=400,326]http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-2676368266473205293&hl=en[/flash]

It's not easy to make a html code worrking for this in smf, it's possible but a lot work and i think in a forum the flash bbc should be used.

Version 1.1.0
Add a Option for Converting Flash HTML into a BBC Tag, it's a option that you need to enable, so that it work, and it only work on saving and editing a post. (So Old Post will not convert automatic!).

Upgrade is inlcuded

I did not use this for my mod ?_?, if you use both this and my mod, it's possible that it replace it back to false.

Thanks for the new version. But my problem continue for me and defined group ids, as Admin and with permission set i can´t add flashes, I only see the links.

I can only see flashes that were added before with the other mod (change) that i published.

When you said that without those mods (nwsw.nwswAdminAttachAnything and Member Color Link no TinyPortal) it will work properly, is about this issue, right? If is that so then I will uninstall them.

Yes, something is cutting out that mod group option. The guy from the top said that he had the same problem, maybe it is the same thing as me in the same conditions.

Today I'll be all day out, but tomorrow we solve that. It always has a reason to exist. lol

Here is what happens in my case:
I make a post with the following html code:
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aocQa2l82Bw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aocQa2l82Bw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

When I hit preivew the code is coverted to flash bbc code and the video shows in the prievew.  I click post and everythings ok.

BUT, if I enter the same code and just clikc post without previewing, the video shows up as a blank white box.
See my forum for an example:

Hello Din!

Sorry for not showing in msn, but i'm having tests for my next work, so i don´t have much to spend here.

Today i had the day off and i could work a bit in my site. One thing i did and it worked well with my case was make changes in Sources/Subs.php:

search:
Quoteif (empty($modSettings['enableEmbeddedFlash']))
$disabled['flash'] = true;

replace:
Quoteif (empty($modSettings['enableEmbeddedFlash']) && !(allowedTo('admin_forum') || in_array('2', $user_info['groups']) || in_array('13', $user_info['groups']) || $user_info['is_mod']))
$disabled['flash'] = true;

Having this with your mod that doesn´t work with the groups, now it delivers what it should. Thank god it does.

Curiously, this change without your mod doesn´t work too well, because only gives permission to add/view flash bbc to the groups added. But now with both working at the same time it works! Guests and Members can see flashes but only those groups can add them.

Bye!

Yes. I know... but my purpose right now is not onfocus my concentration. So i keep msn off, because when i'm on many people try to reach me.

About the mod, i didn´t enable the normal option.

But no problem Din, as much as is working...
One thing that you maybe find interesting is that from my next job, to reduce ansious on my tests i'm doing acupuncture and my Dr. is one student of the best Dr. in Japan, i think he died. Don´t remember name though...
Is working well... i never doubted the power of a niddle ;)

We will get together someday there... i'm curious what's your connection with Japan. Maybe same as mine.

i installed the mod, but in the admin center in the posts & topics area, this is what i get:

QuoteRemove nested quotes when posting (?):     (field)
Embed flash into posts (?):              (field)
may be a security risk!

: (checkbox field)

Enable spell checking (?):    (checkbox field)
this does not work on all servers!

the text for some of the fields is missing. i'm having the same problem with the invite mod by sarke, who suggested that the language file didn't install properly.

any suggestions?

uh, i'm not sure what you mean by that... can you reword it a little?

i installed it (and the invite one) through the package manager and supposedly it installed correctly, although apparently it didn't.

if i knew how to fix it manually i'd do it.... although i hate modifying php files! (that's one of the reasons i started using smf instead of phpbb, i was tired of editing files!)

Other question did you use a other smf theme?

Okay this are the english changes for this mod :x

Title: Re: Allowed Groups Embedded Flash
Post by: LadyC on June 11, 2007, 09:18:17 PM
ok, i just downloaded a copy of the file from my theme default launguages directory.... it had installed the changes already, so that wasn't the problem. since it is already correct in the themes/default/language directory but was non-existent in the theme i use, i went ahead and uploaded the file into my theme's language directory.

still doesn't work.

i switched to the board's smf default theme to view it, and the text does not appear in the topics and posts area of the admin center either.

i'm really scratching my head at this.

could you tell me what the text should be, so i'll know how to fill in the fields? (i'm assuming i can still enter the information, even though i'd be going at it blindfolded, so to speak...)

i found it!!! i found the problem! the server settings were on english-utf8 for the default language instead of regular english! i edited the settings and everything works!

sarke's invite mod was doing the same thing, and he asked me if i had the language file for utf8 in my directory.... so when i was going thru everything in the admin center again, and just happened to notice that was what the board language was set at by my server, a light went off in my head. i couldn't edit it from the admin panel, so i edited it offline and re-uploaded it.

i'm a happy camper now!

Hi.
I've installed the Mod but this error appears when you try to post a new topic:
QuoteParse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/.../public_html/.../forum/Sources/Subs-Post.php on line 2161

The code from that page - from 2159 to 2163:
global $modSettings;

//Okay Let's look if this text is prepares or not :x
if(empty($modSettings['embededHtmlFlashConvert']) || empty($message))
return $message;

Any thoughts ?

Update - May not be the Mod actually...
I've uninstalled it and still get the same error.

I just upgraded the forum to the latest version so I suspect it's more than likely something to do with that.

ok, I got it to work, but I need to know if there is also a security issue and if so, is there a way to reduce this risk? without deleting the option of embeded flash as I think it's a neat feture.

A Security risk is evertime possible, but you can do nothing against ;). Only to give groups who you trusted the premission to post flash.

I can't make this MOD work properly. :(

I have done a clean installation of SMF 1.1.3, then installed Allowed Groups Embedded Flash 1.2.1

Then what? I've checked some groups but all users are able to embed flash.

What options need to be checked? What's the problem? I'm using default theme and english version....

Thanks for help.

You need only to select the groups who allowed to use it, if you select the standard option than it's automatic allowed to everyone!

I'm doing exactly that way....

I select the groups allowed to use it, but this take no effect.

I have the bbc tag [flash] disabled and the option "embed flash to posts" also disabled.

Even I've try all possible combinations and I have no results. Or everyone can post flash or no one.... O_o

Hi ディン1031,

I use the version 1.1.3 of SMF, and I've install successfully your MOD. But it doesn't work at all for me on my test forum, and nether on my fiend's forum.

I've created a "Team" group and authorize it to post flash but I only get the links. Only Admin and Global Moderator are able to post flash... I tried all sorts of option combinations and nothing seems to work... its like it was never installed.

Can someone help me please?! I really need the MOD to work.

Thanks in advance.

Afro.

P.S. I also have the YouTube and DailyMotion BB-code MODs install. Oh, and is it best to install the MOD manually? Because by the Admin panel download manager, it says that it installed OK but nothing works.

OK, thanks...

Please let me know if you find out what's the problem. And if it can help you, here is also the MOD list of my fiends forum (the Allowed Groups Embedded Flash MOD doesn't work for Him either)

So, on my test forum, I have :

1. YouTube BBC Tag (XHTML Compliant) v1.0
2. DailyMotion BBC Tag (XHTML_Compliant) v1.0
3. Allowed Groups Embedded Flash   v1.2.1

And on my friends forum, he has :

1. Copyright      v3
2. MenuPerso    v2
3. Picture forum view par MkC    v12.1
4. Separe post epingle by MkC    v2.0
5. Downloads    v1
6. Filtre Mail    v1.0
7. PostPerso    v2
8. PostRecentMkc    v1
9. Hide Tag Special   v1.2.4
10. Traduction french Hide Tag Special 1.24 + bbc tag hide    v1.0.2
11. vMoveTopic Notify by PM    v0.90
12. Traduction FR vMoveTopic Notify by PM    v1.0.2
13. Users Online Today Mod    v1.4.0
14. Allowed Groups Embedded Flash   v1.2.1

So, on both our forums, the Allowed Groups Embedded Flash MOD dos not work at all, only Admin is able to post Flash. I manage once to make your MOD work before but I had only this one installed I think. So, it might be a bug with other MODs... this should be fixable since other MODs work together, doesn't it? Hope it's gonna help you find the corrections. Thanks very much for your work, This MOD will be the best when it'll be adjusted!

See ya!
Afro.

Hi DIN1031,

I would have a little request for something that would make a good add up to your MOD and that people (including me! ;D) would find very useful. I found on a forum by surfing on Google, a BBcode MOD that allowed the possibility to make the Flash file canvas transparent. Here's a sample of the description I've picked up on the site:

This mod will allow your users to specify 'transparent' or 'non-transparent' when using the [flash]http://BBCode tags to post a .swf - any objects on the Flash stage will appear, but the background (canvas) colour of the .swf file will not be visible, so the IPB background will show through.

This mod is particularly useful if you have variety of dark/light skins installed, since it will prevent colour-clashing between the swf background and the board colours

Usage:

[flash=400,60,0]http://server.net/folder/swfname.swf[/flash]
Will show the Flash normally, with an opaque background (the colour of the Flash canvas)

[flash=400,60,1]http://server.net/folder/swfname.swf[/flash]
Will show the Flash with a transparent background (Flash canvas colour will not show)

I know that this MOD is not for SMF but, If you would like to take a look at the coding to perhaps adapt it to SMF, please let me know and I will send you the files in PM. Then you could Post the update publicly.

Thanks very much and I hope you will like the idea!

See ya!

AfroSamurai.

Than i can make a mod for it, should be not very difficult and will be work everytime in the flash tag :).

Yes I got it every time.   I think everytime Ii did anything on the board.

I uninstalled the  file, don't know if it will do you any good since I no longer have the mod installed.  But perhaps you'll see I have a badly fouled up file..  I just tried to re-install it and got an error in the load.php  :(

I'll attach it and the new file giving me an error on install.  I may have broken the board.  Someone just told me how to delete all modes, via installing a clean copy of SMF.  Maybe i need to do that.

I installed a LOT of mods all at once.  I should not have done that.

...

First error Load.php
Line 996 should be look like
$profile['signature'] = parse_bbc($profile['signature'], true, 'sig' . $profile['ID_MEMBER']);(The tab in front is missing).

In the the Post.php i did not find a error oO, but it's impossible to find missing spaces or tabs...

Hmmm the importend changes :)

This are change, you can do them manual, but make a backup before ;).

Change in Filename: $sourcedir/Load.php
Quote
Search for this

Replace All with
if(!isset($modSettings['allowedFlashGroups']))
$modSettings['allowedFlashGroups'] = array();
if(!is_array($modSettings['allowedFlashGroups']))
$modSettings['allowedFlashGroups'] = explode(',', $modSettings['allowedFlashGroups']);
$profile['signature'] = parse_bbc($profile['signature'], true, 'sig' . $profile['ID_MEMBER'], in_array($profile['ID_GROUP'], $modSettings['allowedFlashGroups']));

Search for this
else
{
$avatar_width = '';
$avatar_height = '';
}

Replace All with
else
{
$avatar_width = '';
$avatar_height = '';
}

if(!empty($profile['ID_MEMBER']) && !empty($board_info['moderators']))
$is_mod = in_array($profile['ID_MEMBER'], array_keys($board_info['moderators']));
else
$is_mod = false;

Search for this
'signature' => &$profile['signature'],
'location' => &$profile['location'],

Replace All with
'signature' => &$profile['signature'],
'embendedFlash' => in_array($profile['ID_GROUP'], $modSettings['allowedFlashGroups']) || in_array($profile['ID_POST_GROUP'], $modSettings['allowedFlashGroups']) || ($is_mod && in_array(3, $modSettings['allowedFlashGroups'])),

You tried this -> http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=162657.msg1695548#msg1695548

This is the only way to solve it.

You did install the mod, and afterward you change the Load.php?
And where is the problem?

Is there a way to NOT allow the Looping / Autostart.
e.g. autostart="false" loop="false"
When I add this to the code, it seems to ignore it.

I do love this module! Thanks so much!
