I'm making a website, which is practically a portal but without the features.
It has a banner at the top, a little below that a menu (which is the same width), below that on the left is a small box, then in the middle is a large content box, and on the right another small box.
Then below that, is one more box on the left and one more on the right, for space in the middle for the content box to grow.
My problem is that when I try to add content to the left or right boxes, it forces the middle one to increase, which I don't want to. Here is a better example

It looks all right now yes; I think the codes you put lately violate the tag usage order.
It may look alright but the problem is still there.
See navigation and content areas, if I increase the navigation area it forces the content area to increase also, i dont want that.
Well I've sorted that, but I have another problem
How can I add cellpadding to the middle row of a 3 row table?
Here is what I mean:

In the main content area, I want the writing to start after the silver bar on the left, but I've tried cellpadding and it doesnt work for a single row of a 3 row table :(
I did cellpadding to the entire table, but that moved my images as well.
Use the css padding property on the cell you want
<td style="padding: 5px;"></td>
Thanks, although it semi worked:

It seems to have moved the content box over to the left for some reason
edit:
nevermind i sorted it, thanks
sorry for another doublepost....
I used the code, but its affected all of the tables inside:

All I want is padding for the inside of the area with my forums latest posts, unlike how it is now with the tables above and below it affected too.
