Adds a textbox in the user's profile where they can leave notes.
Admins can view and edit any user's notepad.
I'd like to be able to leave notes on a member's profile, for instance if they do something bad or get in trouble I'd like to be able to put that on their record, but I don't want anybody to be able to see it except for admins or other membergroups that I allow. Is this mod configurable to do that?
This mod currently does not offer that.
I would suggest my Profile comments mods which has view comments permission.
Yeah, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

it looks like it doesnt install PROPERLY! it's just a faulty mod... you have to manually copy and paste the changes to the modifications template...
cheers
The mod does copy it to the default modifcations.english.php language file
<file name="$languagedir/Modifications.english.php">

</operation>

Can i suggest this as a feature? would be great.
I already did that. They said that it is a mod and told me to suggest it as a mod. then vbgamer made it for me.

is there a mod for this? like a warning system? has anyone made one? it'll be great to keep a record of the members moderations!
Is there a way to set a default text when someone creates an acount?
No built into the mod you would need to add a record into the themes table.
Is there a way to make this instead of on the profile page but rather a link on the side under modify that says notepad. I would love this.
Hello,
where the "Personal notes" are saved?
Thank you,
F.
Saved inside the database in the themes tables
Sorry, perhaps my question wasn't clear:
I mean, I see a "Personal notes" form into every profile and it's ok. But when i write something and click on "Save notes" where can i re-see these notes?
Isn't a kind of diary?
Tnx,
Fabio
You should be able to resee the notes inside a person's profile.
Sorry mate but i can't see nothing, where i wrong?

Vbgamer, you should add an option (+ / -) for resize the box.
It should be perfect ;)
help! :)
When I try to add a new feed, I'm get the following error: XML error: mismatched tag at line 63
What does it mean?
@BioCarbon13
You have posted the same message to a number of topics that are completely unrelated to what looks to be an RSS problem...doing so will merely annoy other people and not get you a quicker answer...please post in the proper topic and only there.
The install put the notepad in the members summary page, with a small square button without text.
It works, but I don't think this is how it supposed to !?
On smf 1.1.3 , Dilber MC Theme
You may need to edit the files in your custom theme to install into it...mods are only required to install into the SMF Default theme...

Thanks, TrueSatan.
I must be a dummy, because I really can't figure out what goes where.
I open the "personalpad.xml" and it has 4 occurances of "file name = "
Which probably means I have to go through all four of those to add something? But I don't understand what that "something" is.
Appreciate some more help!
The modparser will give you the help you requested...it outputs the instructions in the .xml file in a more human readable form.

hello one question if I want to modificated the mod for that the users can see all the notes of profile but they can't modify is possible?? how can i do that??
Hello,
I have added this mod to several custom themes, and it works fine for me as an admin. But nobody else can see any other comment field other than their own. I have changed their permissions to let them do so, is there any place I have to turn this on, in the admin section or something?
If you switch to the SMF default theme does it then work? I'm trying to see if it's your editing of the custom themes that is at fault.

No. nevertheless I removed that mod and added the profile comments mod, which I am having some small issues with, and posting about there.
Thanks.

I had the same problem too, but if you open profile.template.php, look for:
Quote<input type="submit" value="', $txt['mempad_save'], '" name="cmdnotes" />
Replace with:
Quote<input type="submit" value="Submit"', $txt['mempad_save'], '" name="cmdnotes" />
And it should work :)
Hi,

It's ok, i've fixked it, it was the admin notepad, i forgot to change the mod english thingy-me-bob for my theme lol! :-[
I'd like to see a mod (for 1.1.4) that would allow users to make notes IN THE MESSAGES.
Thanks in advance.
I just downloaded and installed this mod but I don't see the options for it in my Profile.
Using version 1.1.4 and the Default theme.
Make sure you are using english as your language and not english utf8 also check the permissions on the files for SMF they need to be writable in order to make the changes.

I'm using English and currently all files are writable (777).

How i make for this mod work on Brazilian forum?
when a i put the lenguage as Portuguese Brazilias, the mode do not work.
What i have to do for mods work in Portuguese Brazilian?
You have to translate themes/default/languages/modifications.english.php and make your modifications file for your language.
I just installed on 1.1.5 default theme, and everything works as advertised and no errors. I like what you've done. Very nice mod - thank you!
Is there a manual edit to make it so that everyone's notes are private, even from the administrator? Would there be any security risks/issues in doing that if that could be done?
Just checking - is there a manual edit that will make it so that everyone's notes are private, even from the administrator? And would there be any security risks/issues in doing that if that can be done?
It could be done you would need to modify profile.template.php and check what user is viewing the page.
Here's the only edit in the profile.template.php file according to the package parser:
Find:
<tr>
<td colspan="2" height="25">
<table width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" style="table-layout: fixed;">
<tr>
<td style="padding-bottom: 0.5ex;"><b>', $txt[85], ':</b></td>
</tr><tr>
<td colspan="2" width="100%" class="smalltext"><div class="signature">', $context['member']['signature'], '</div></td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
Add after:
';
// Member Notepad
global $scripturl;
if ($context['show_pad'])
echo '
<tr>
<td colspan="2"><hr size="1" width="100%" class="hrcolor" /></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2" >
<h3>' . $txt['mempad_title'] . '</h3>
<form method="POST" action="', $scripturl, '?action=savepad">
<textarea rows="5" name="txtnotes" cols="80">', $context['pad_notes'], '</textarea><br />
<input type="hidden" name="id" value="', $context['member']['id'], '">
<input type="submit" value="', $txt['mempad_save'], '" name="cmdnotes" />
</form>
<br />
</div>
</td>
</tr>';
// End Member Notepad
echo '
Do you know what needs to be edited to make notes private even from the admin? Thanks vbgamer45 :)
Not off hand.
Okay, thanks vbgamer45 :)

Updated the MOD for SMF 2.0 beta4!
How can I make this to display HTML? I want to put my playlist.com player in!~

Updated the MOD for SMF 2.0 beta4!
Err, can't the same thing be accomplished with the included CPF? I'm not sure if it's changed anything since beta 2.1 when I did it on my old forum, but can't you just add a textarea with access allowed to admins only? I might be wrong :P just playing devil's advocate...
Forgot about custom profile fields but it is good to have an upgrade path for users so they do not loose their notes when they upgrade to the latest version of SMF.
cool mod, but i hope other members can see the notes too. like for example, a member is goin on vacation for 2 weeks, then maybe they can put that on the personal note. or, is there a mod like that already?
That is called Profile comments search on the mod site.
^thanks! found it and installed it with no problem :)
hi! any idea how i should integrate this in Ultimate profile?
Thanks!
Will this mod work with 2.0 RC1?
I currently have it installed on my forum, I'd like to switch to 2.0 and keep as many of my current mods after the switch as I possibly can
It should unless there was a change.
Thank You :D
Anything for 2.0 RC1 ? I have an error in the profile :(
Ok, does anyone are using Member Notepad on RC1 ? I cannot install it! :(
What happens in rc1??
Any chance of this getting updated for RC2? This is one feature I loved in IPB and hope to use it on my board.
Updated to to support SMF 2.0 RC2
Awesome, thanks. I can't find where to configure this though, my pad is really, really small and would like to increase the width.
Also, is it possible to make the pads private so admins can't see it? I like to give members some privacy.
You can edit the Profile.template.php and make the width greater more cols.
There are no settings for the mod at the moment.
Nice Mod
Thanks
Here the German Lang
$txt['mempad_title'] = 'Persönliche Notizen';
$txt['mempad_save'] = 'Notizen speichern';
$txt['mempad_error'] = 'Sorry, aber Du hast nicht die Berechtigung diese Notizen zu ändern.';
Thanks for the translation!
vbgmamer45,
did you ever hear something similar to a function described in this thread:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=365448
I found this mod is close to it.
Will you consider to make one?
thanks.
I have Profile Comments is that similar?

YES, I think this one is very similar. You just need to put the input area right under the user name on top of the index page, and let this place always show the last thought. Then add a function to display all of them in the profile page (with members comment possibility). That will be wonderful. I am sure lots of people need that. Thank you very much and kind regards.
hi, i have some problems with this mod:
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg37.imageshack.us%2Fimg37%2F7224%2F36267530.jpg&hash=cabcba5fd81bad0ad792ea5530a1b9a9422a8750)
why the box is so small?
That's the default for the box.
Modify the profile.template.php i think
Updated for SMF 2.0 RC3!
Perhaps you have a bug in the code?
Link: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=788 (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=788)
For the file ". / Themes / default / Profile.template.php"
In the property "textarea" to write "cols" instead of "col"?
With regard to your work, Kotofff
Fixed thanks also took of an xhtml validation issue.
Can one adapt this so the content of Member Notepad is visible to all users?
Using SMF 2.0.2, default theme and UTF8 language files.
Thanks
Requires an edit to proifle.template.php you have to take out the permission chekc

I'd also like to know.
Unfamiliar with that mod would have to be done manually or make an edit it ulimate profile to call the code.
Found a bug in Google member Map 3.0 that is preventing the Member Notepad from displaying in the Profile Summary - see Modifications and Packages: Google Member Map (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=550885.msg3916480#msg3916480)
Hi, i really like this mod. But is it possible to add a permission to a specified usergroup to also view (not edit or delete) the members notepad?
I would like to use the Member Notepad function as a sort of medical information about the user (which the user must fill in by theirselves ofcourse) and that information would be visible for members within the usergroup "Medical Specialists".
Possible but don't have the time at the moment.
Is it ok if I would ask it someone else to make a mod based on Member Notepad?
No
Ok. Then i won't.
