Post by: Grendor on May 26, 2007, 09:00:20 PM
Hello I am having problem with the calendar feature. I am admin and it works fine for me, but my directors or 2nd in charge there is an issue with the additional options features where they dont get the sticky, lock, move and other options listed.

I have checked the setting and i think its right but dont understand why they cant see the options.

Please help

Thanks in advance
Fred

When you click on create event in calendar and start to enter the event before you post the event there is an additional option area to choose to make sticky, lock and other options. They only seem to show up under admin account and not under any other user groups i created.

I have changed many options.
Thanks

Ill try to make this a bit more clear I made a user group called directors and for permissions i trie to turn on all items to edit and moderate the forums. But when a user in this new group tries to add a new calendar event options are missing under additional options there is no choice for sticky or lock post ect.
Here is a screen shot to confirm it.

I tried to use the presets too for Maintenance for permissions and selecting everything manually but still dont get the sticky, lock topic and others in calendar post. I have created new groups and tried to make work but it will not work. But if i move users to the Administrator group i get the correct choices i also attach a working photo named calendar2.

Why won't it work with other groups, please help. :'(

P.s. EDIT- If you look at the 2 pictures its the lower options on screen that i cant get to wrok unless i give people admin group. Even if i set other groups to allow those options.

Thanks in Advance
Fred

Hi Fred, it won't work with any other membergroups. For those "directors", it looks like you will have to make them admin. You can try decreasing their access a little in the permissions settings, but basically they will have a lot of power once granted that level of membership. I tried playing around with this myself and can't seem to find a way around it...must change them to admin.

Well thanks for your help i really appreciate it. I cant make them all admins as i have 11 and thats to many to have with that kind of access.

Can i ask you this which script controls the additional options for showing them if you know? Also would there not be a way to add a context if admin and if director show options?

Thanks for your help
Fred

There should be a way to add this in, but you will need to wait for someone who's more familiar with the coding to help out here. I'll see if I can find any info on it...

Is this issue solved or do you still require assistant?

Have you looked at permissions? I believe their is permissions on the calender setup itself that allows them to create events.

Are you using the latest version of SMF?
Any Mods installed?
Are you using a custom theme?
Was this a problem before you did an upgrade?

This is not a problem from what I see. It's how SMF was made to work...at least it's the same problem on my test forum.

Try asking for help on how to get this feature in the Scripting Help (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=8.0) board.
